Abbaa Naa’olPartícipeOne thing that really stood out to me from the Layered Chocolate Cake Exercise is how it encourages couples to talk honestly about their flaws—but in a way that’s gentle and even a little playful. It’s not easy to admit where ego gets in the way, but doing it together, with humor and compassion, makes it feel less like criticism and more like teamwork.
And then flipping the conversation to appreciation? That’s powerful. It reminds you why you’re together in the first place. Ending with each person sharing what they need—that’s the cherry on top. It turns the whole talk into something nourishing, not just emotional venting.
It’s a sweet way to clean up emotional clutter and rebuild with love. Simple, but surprisingly deep.

JoPartícipeThis was a great lesson in not taking things personally, and to understand that all these troublesome aggravations between us are but opportunities pushing us to grow and increase our love over the divisions between us.
