It means shifting from experiencing life as “me versus the world” to sensing oneself as part of an interconnected system. Motivation moves from personal gain towards reducing harm and supporting balance without erasing the self. Pleasure comes less from acquiring and winning and more from fairness and contribution.

Self-centered perception organises reality around ‘me’, while altruism perception organises reality around truth, balance and collective well being.

Transitioning from a self-centered perception of reality to one grounded in altruism entails perceiving the needs of another creature as your own and thus treating the other as you would treat yourself.

It comes from a realization that everything is the will of the creator, every unpleasant experience I experience throughout the day is an opportunity to work on egoism. This way when I encounter obstacles, there is none that is too small or too big, because to move toward being altruistic my motivations have to be equal in wanting good for others as for myself and that they will have the quality of bestowal.
