DanPartícipeI am convinced by the congress. I have questions about the method though,
If adhesion to the creator is all that is required, then what prevents the group from becoming evil and doing evil? As mentioned below, Nazis and KKK have very strong adhesion to one another, that doesn’t mean they have the right idea about God. Similarly there are groups or rabis like chabad or rav cook who believe that adhesion should be in terms of birth status or belonging to a group, or desire for destruction and war and genocide. No doubt these groups and figures are a influential in Israel, so do you see how this way of thinking can also be perverted?

Gianni – KabU InstructorModeratorWell, I’m not sure what’s been done with Chabad or Rav Kook – I didn’t look into that – but in the original, there were Kabbalists there.
Talk to me about a group where they work toward others – it’s love the other as yourself, so not someone you already have business with – such that (1) through others (2) they are aiming for connection (3) with no possible benefit other than the Creator’s revelation to the Created Beings (4) using an authentic method from a teaching lineage of Kabbalists. If any of these is missing, there’s nothing to talk about. There are more conditions, but through this lens you already discover a world that is all but empty.

BenPartícipeDo you want my honest response?
Over the decades I’ve been part of all sorts of self-help and spiritual groups that held large group events. And in every case the responses people had were pretty much IDENTICAL to what everyone has been saying about the Kabbalah Congress.
There is a “group dynamic” that some would call a “collective unconscious” that can be observed when groups of people with similar attitudes get together. You feel the added passion and excitement at sporting events or in theaters or at comedy clubs. Everything is more intense. Everything is more vibrant. Emotions run high.
I’m sure at Nazi and KKK “hate” events people have a similar response.
This response has less to do with spirituality or the Creator and more to do with human nature.
My point is three things:
1. That what is being described happens whenever a group of people with similar attitudes gets together.
2. This universal human response is proof that we are all connected.
3. Anyone who has completed all of the previous weeks of KabU lessons is likely already sold on Kabbalah.
Would I go to a Kabbalah Congress?
Most certainly.
I would relish the opportunity to get together with other Kabbalists and to meet and learn from more advanced students of Kabbalah.
At the same time I felt as if this section in the entry-level 20 weeks of KabU training was the first one where I felt like it was “fluff” as opposed to the foundational “meat and potatoes” lessons that filled the previous weeks.
I am very impressed with KabU and I am grateful for the opportunity to study Kabbalah in this way.
My recommendation would be to edit this section of the KabU program to include more substance.
Possibly add some excerpts from lectures given at a Congress.
Possibly have the lecture playing in the background and zoom in on the faces of the people to show their unsolicited responses.
If someone has gone this far with the KabU online courses I would suspect that they are already quite excited about Kabbalah and already quite impressed with KabU.
I don’t think you need to sell them on a Congress.
I believe a better time and way to promote the importance of attending a Congress would be when a Congress is coming up and to do that promotion with emails, social media, and links.
I hope that my constructive criticisms were accepted as heartfelt and supportive.

MariePartícipeThe purpose and preparation for a Congress was very revealing and it elevate a desire to attend one and be among us, the other parts of us and be as one as the final aim is.
The dialogue with Mary and Dena was also impressive on the preparation level with everyone participating with the desire to bestow. It was enlightening, thank you for sharing.

Partícipewith all respect, but I started to see why some people become skeptical upon this point of studying Kabbalah. Because it does sound like an organization trying to market itself by wearing a hat that covers that intention. Please help me understand this “worship” on Rav, like everything the Rav said must be THE answer. Is Ray himself still learning and correcting himself? even if he finished correction at some point, but before that, his views(reflected in his books, articles, videos, classes) probably only represent that particular ladder he was on at that time? which mean whatever his thoughts were at that time, it may not the complete/correct perspective? I am not sure if I explained myself well.

Gianni – KabU InstructorModeratorYou explained well, but you should know that attaining spirituality has the following condition, described here by Baal HaSulam in The Teaching of Kabbalah & its Essence:
The most successful way for one who wishes to learn the wisdom is to search for a genuine Kabbalist and follow all his instructions, until one is rewarded with understanding the wisdom in one’s own mind, meaning the first discernment. Afterward, one will be rewarded with its conveyance mouth to mouth, which is the second discernment, and after that, understand in writing, which is the third discernment. Then, one will have inherited all the wisdom and its instruments from his teacher with ease and will be left with all his time to develop and expand.
However, in reality there is a second way: Through one’s great yearning, the sights of heaven will open before him and he will attain all the origins by himself. This is the first discernment. Yet, afterward, one must still labor and exert extensively until he finds a Kabbalist sage before whom he can bow and obey, and from whom to receive the wisdom by way of conveyance face to face, which is the second discernment.

Katrina LeeksPartícipeI appreciated the style of this week’s lesson. It allowed me to connect with the first-hand experiences of those who have been to a Congress. Thank you!
