The Latin word Religare as I undertand it, is the root word for Religion and is defined as “to bind, to tie” or perhaps to re-unite, or cleaving unto. Religion has always seemed to me to be a methodology or life style that people lived in an effort to ‘bind’ or ‘tie’, or re-untie with the G-d. From this perspective can we say that Kabbalah is also a Religion in as much as that it is or seems so to be a methodology of life which is designed to assist one in re-uniting and cleaving unto the G-d, or to bind with or tie to, achieving equivalence of form with the Creator?

      Shalom.

We learned about reaching the state of Lishma and achieving equivalence of form with the Creator. Could you elaborate on how we can practically work ‘above reason’ and overcome our egoistic desires, especially when faced with doubts and challenges along the path?

        Nature,
Someone who is intent on climbing Mt. Everest exeriences the cold and the difficult terrain as part of the journey whereas a normal person subjected to those same and inhospitable conditions would feel very bad about it.
What is very important to us is to make the spiritual goal great in our eyes and to surrounded by others who are doing the same.
In that case all of the doubts and challenges take on a new form as leverage to get to our goal.

In this week’s lesson, we learned that the Creator’s quality is one of constant bestowal and that true prayer involves self-analysis rather than asking for change in our circumstances. Could you explain how we can cultivate this approach to prayer and bestowal, especially when faced with challenges that strongly affect our perception?

Am I correct in thinking that this kind of down cast feeling I’m having is just part of the process, since truly, I have no actual reason to feel this way.
