PartícipeWhen the sense of shame was mentioned, I was reminded of the Adam and Eve story, particularly as the pronoun “she” was used throughout the lesson. Is there a hidden message in the Adam and Eve story that relates to Kabbalah? I apologize if I am not phrasing this well.

BradPartícipeSeth, sorry, what was the song you sang at the NY retreat, the one where you got the crowed to sing in different harmonies, it was Saturday night closing and sung again in the morning… apologies I couldn’t find the “general questions” forum to ask you specifically. The song was not included on the 2024 Retreat playlist, i searched far and wide for it. Thanks in advance.

SheilaPartícipeMmm Brad. As long as you are asking about this one, I want to know the name of the (well known) Hebrew song that was the last one we sang on Sunday at the lunch/gathering of friends. Right before we went into the zoom reflection. I’m thinking you might know it if you were there. Thanks!

Seth – KabU InstructorModeratorSheila,
The Hebrew song sang at the end is Hine MaTov.

SheilaPartícipeOh wow. That’s what Brad said, and it was done so quietly, so beautifully. I remember this song being lively, but somehow I knew all the words, and I sang with love, and remembrance. I wish I could hear the friends sing it again. Thank you Seth. Music does bring the Light.

BradPartícipeHi, I think i missed the lunch virtually, but I’ll take a guess, He-ne matov? Thats a popular hebrew one we sing often.
- September 14, 2024 at 8:50 pm EDT #387524
SheilaPartícipeGood guess, but no, a much quieter song. Sorry you missed it, and the reflection afterwards. Seth? I did ask support but I know they are so busy right now. I would like to see some of the events I missed too. Like the one you are mentioning, with the harmonies. An incredible 3 days! Thanks Brad.

VianneyPartícipeWould it be also correct to interpret phase 2 as a first attempt of giving everything in order to imitate the creator and feel the same pleasure than him, which results in emptiness of the kli, rather than only rejecting the light because it feels there is a better pleasure from giving?
- September 14, 2024 at 7:58 pm EDT #387515
Seth – KabU InstructorModeratorVianney,
You are aiming in the right direction.
A little redirection: think of this in terms of the Light is still doing everything. The Creator had a desire to create a creature and fill it with endless delight. This thought itself caused everything that happens after. Everything in the four phases of direct light, which take place before time and space all the way to our day today, all of it extends from that original thought.
So when we refer to the four phases of direct light, this is the primordial structure that everything else in reality will follow, kind of like the dna that determines how everything in the body will be built.

VivianPartícipeHi. In the next “Interact” section, there is a statement for which I would like clarification, but there is no question text box, so I hope it is okay to ask this here.
It says: In Kabbalah, the two forces that must not connect directly are the force of the Creator (+, bestowal, positive) and the force of the Creature (-, reception, negative). If they connect directly there’s a short-circuit right away. What we call “life” is in fact the result of such a short-circuit.
Does this mean we will never connect? We will always have only a third-party aspect between us, but no direct contact? Upon correction, when the shattering is unified back to our original state, we will still not be able to connect? I can see the consequence of connection of opposites, but if we gain the ability to bestow to the Creator, will He expand to express the ability to receive in order to accept our gift of bestowal and “receive” contentment, and therefore we would attain together a new expansion that brings us into the equivalence (rather than opposite) of form, and allow for connection (or perhaps unification)?
Please also offer definitions for “connection” and “life” from the perspective of the Upper World, as I may be coloring what I think I am reading by thinking with “This World” terms rather than “Upper World” understanding.
Thank you!

Seth – KabU InstructorModeratorVivian,
There is an addition to the explanation.
We will remain a desire to receive since this is what the Creator wants. He wants to give abundantly to us.
However by receiving we become opposite from Him.
But we will learn about correcting our intention. If we receive, not for the sake of our ego, but in order to give contentment to the Creator than our act of receiving is truly an act of bestowal. We only receive because it gives Him contentment, not because of our ego. This world is what is depicted to us by our corporeal senses. The Upper Worlds are what we perceive with vessels of bestowal (not vessels of reception), that is called Life.

Assana ColubaliPartícipeFor now, the things I have been learning are clear to me, so I will present them whenever I have a doubt.

Dan BenediktPartícipeSorry, but I think one thing is not clear for me yet… Are we and our material world in Malchut? Or are most of us still struggling to achieve a real sensation of spirituality?
Is Malchut purily spiritual?- September 3, 2024 at 8:28 am EDT #386341
Seth – KabU InstructorModeratorDan,
Great question.
The nature of our reality is not very clear to us.
To us it seems 100% real.
Maybe it’s like a child who goes on an airplane to go on vacation with his family.
He gets packed, he goes on the plane, puts on his seatbelt, lands in a warm place, enjoys the beach and the pool.
But what does he know about how the airplane was made, and who went to work to purchase the tickets for the flight.
The child is at the tail end of everything and his life feels real, but everything has been set before him with no free choice or participation at all in the world he lives, only to go along with what is. Nevertheless, he feels this is his life and he doesn’t know there is something else.
The kabbalists tell us that we are at the very bottom of the world of Assiyah.
Anyway, we perceive our world according to our senses. Our senses are all aimed at ourself and we therefore depict a world in our mind that I end where my skin ends, past my skin there is the outside world.
This is called corporeal perception.
