      Hi,

Today I learned that my inability to follow and bond with a teacher is my greatest ego. I have a great desire for spirituality; reading and practicing everyday, and i love people and serve them with compassion. Yet when it comes to truly following a teacher and nullifying my desire and mind to a teacher is the greatest obstacle to becoming Kabballist. Is there any advise? I live far in the bush and only learning online.

        Hi Bolormaa,

We don’t need to work directly towards a teacher. We need to listen to the teachers advice and try to implement it. The main advice from our teachers is that we need to reach a spiritual connection in a small group of ten. The group of ten is the main laboratory of our work. And it’s precisely in that connection where we will reveal spirituality in practice.

We’ll learn how to do this practically in the advanced semesters of KabU where everyone will get their own virtual Kabbalah group to practice with.

suppose i have read the torah9bible and can see the spiritual secrets like what is cin or abraham , who is moses and so forth , what is the layers above and the pth of torh lishma nd mitzvot and have covered many zohr articles as well as shamati and michael laitman;s a few books ..wht will it take to corss the machsom?

      • #477028

        Hi Collen,

Crossing the machsom (barrier) between corporeality and spirituality works according to the law of equivalence of form. Meaning that to the extent that we become similar to spirituality, to the qualities of pure love and bestowal that reside there, to that extent we’ll come closer to spirituality and feel it in practice. This is just like how a radio can pick up an external wave, when we tune the internal frequency of the radio to that wave.

But practicing love and bestowal is not something I can do in isolation, rather I need to have someone with whom I can practice these things. And I can’t practice this with just anyone, as that too would violate the rule of “there is no coercion in spirituality”. I need to practice it with others that have the same goal and are aspiring towards that goal on a regular basis. In other words, I need to practice this in a Kabbalistic group.

hi..is it worthy forming  group of yet to be kabbalists who re totally new but eager to know ? can i study with them the little i know for example my spouse a friend a few colleagues or even my sons or should i be given a group?can i apply my kabbalh wisdom in a soccer team and use it as a group?

      • #477027

        Hi Collen,

        1. You can try to form a study group, just remember that “there is no coercion in spirituality”. So don’t force anyone into studying Kabbalah. Even arguing with someone about it or trying to prove that Kabbalah is correct to someone is not recommended. If you’re able to keep these limits, then there is no harm in forming a study group.

        2. As for the soccer team, it depends on what you’re trying to accomplish. If the goal is to reach the revelation of the Creator, this is possibly only when we practice what we learn here with other points in the heart in a Kabbalistic group.

If you practice this anywhere else, in the best case scenario you’ll build some good relationships, in the worst case, people will think you’re weird or try to take advantage of you. But either way it will not lead to the revelation of the Creator.

So generally, with the rest of the world, it’s best to just act normal, like everyone else. Meaning don’t make a saint of yourself and at the same time don’t cause harm to others or break the law, but just act the way normal people act.

And in the advanced semesters of KabU, we’ll learn how to do spiritual work in a group, and whoever wants will be given a virtual Kabbalah group to put these things into practice.

Regarding climbing 125 steps of correction,, do we climb a step at a time with each intention? Or do climb number of steps at a time? Do we ever fall back in our climb up? How can we tell that we are making progress in our climb?

      • #475700

        Hi Mira,

We’re still in the preparation period prior to the spiritual ladder. But once we start to do real spiritual work, we can measure our progress in our attitude towards other points in the hearts. That I’ll feel how my attitude towards them changes, from complete indifference, all the way until I feel them as pieces of my soul. We’ll learn about this in the more advanced lessons.

If connecting with the mind of the creator is possible, then is it not possible to become united through our actions? Like seeing the creator in every action, like typing on a computer or drinking a cup of tea, we see the steps that were taken for it to get to us that way. What role does the group have by explicitly using the language of the creator, when actions speak louder than words so the same effect can be obtained by a dedicated workplace or a charity?

      • #469941

        Hi Dana,

Connecting to the mind of the Creator works according to the law of equivalence of form. Meaning that to the extent that we become similar to Him, to His qualities of bestowal, to that extent we reveal Him, reveal His thought behind all of reality.

But the more we analyze the intentions behind our actions, the more we’ll see that we don’t have a true intention to bestow. That our nature is completely opposed to it. Bestowal is the Creator’s nature. While our nature is that of pure reception. So it’s impossible for us to truly bestow. At best we can perform more and more covert actions of reception.

For example, I go to the store and I give them my money, but obviously I want something in return. It’s the same with all of our actions of bestowal in corporeality. Either I do it to receive pleasure directly or indirectly from fame, honor, money, or even the pride of knowing that no one knows about this action, or even avoiding pain or guilt is also part of this same calculation.

So real bestowal, above any calculations for receiving for oneself, does not exist in our world. Real bestowal is purely the Creator’s quality. If we want to acquire such a quality, we first need to correct our nature. This is done by the force of the light we evoke through the Kabbalistic studies. This light begins to work on us, even if we don’t have the true desire to bestow. Even if we’re just like little kids, pretending to be spiritual grown ups. It takes this aspiration of ours and corrects it little by little, building in us a true desire for spirituality, for the spiritual qualities of love and bestowal.

Check out this blog post from Rav Laitman for more details: http://laitman.com/2013/02/sunbathing-in-the-rays-of-the-reforming-light/

As for the Kabbalistic group, it’s a means by which we amplify the force of the light on us, exponentially speeding up the process of correcting our nature. We’ll learn about these things in detail in the more advanced lessons.

In this weeks readings it is written, “Having grasped and perceived the Creator and his absolute benevolent Dominion, as well as his power in the entire creation, we should choose not to see the creator in all his glory because this would undermine our faith.”

If ascending the spiritual ladder gives us a more tangible perception of the spiritual worlds and more tangible perception of the Creator, Does this not contradict the above statement? in other words, I thought one of the benefits of attainment was this ability to tangibly see the creator and the spiritual world. But then once that happens, doesn’t that mean we’re no longer operating by faith above reason? I would really love it if an experienced Kabbalist could tell me what attainment even in the first few degrees looks like as far as our heightened perception of the spiritual. Or even to greater degrees, How can someone ascend so high in the practice of Kabbalah and still end up with doubts as to the existence of the Creator altogether? I would think having an experience like that would leave you with no doubts.

        Hi Adam,

Spirituality works according to the law of equivalence of form. Meaning that to reveal spirituality, we need to become similar to it, to the qualities of pure bestowal that are there.

Check out this blog post from Rav Laitman for more details: https://laitman.com/2013/04/everything-is-attained-by-the-equivalence-of-form/

So we reveal spirituality by aspiring towards bestowal. If we reveal spirituality, and stop aspiring towards bestowal, instead wanting to receive for ourselves, then we will lose our equivalence of form and thereby lose our attainment of spirituality.

As long as our ego is not fully corrected, there needs to be a certain level of concealment. Otherwise we would steal everything we reveal into our ego. If we’re fully uncorrected, the concealment is placed upon us from above. The more that we are corrected, we begin to place the concealment upon ourselves. In allegorical terms this is sometimes referred to as a cloud, shade, or wings. All of those things are talking about the importance of the concealment for our spiritual development.

Check out this blog post from Rav Laitman for more details:

        https://laitman.com/2015/07/revelation-in-concealment/

As for doubts, doubts accompany us throughout our entire spiritual development. They are the challenges thanks to which we grow and develop.

It’s just like in school, if we master all the challenges and exercise in first grade, we’re promoted to the second grade. And in second grade we’re given even harder challenges and exercises than the first grade. Or like in weightlifting, if we master an exercise with 10 pounds, we increase it to 15 to keep challenging our bodies to grow stronger.

Likewise in spirituality, every new spiritual degree comes with its own set of doubts and problems, thanks to which we can grow and develop further.
