Preparation Question: Our entire work in Kabbalah is only to attract the light that reforms. By this we receive everything we need for our advancement. Furthermore, I’m told that if I will help the others, I will advance myself even more towards spirituality. How does this work? What does it mean to help the others, those with the point in the heart, on the spiritual path?

How does this work? Being in the right environment (a group of like-minded friends) where our ego and point in the heart can expand. The analogy of the test tube helps with understanding the right environment where we put the ego and the point in the heart in a test tube and then mix in with other points in the heart, spiritual guidance and Kabbalistic resources to attract the light that reforms.

What does it mean to help the others? You help others by transforming your egoistic desire to receive for yourself into a desire to share; thereby, helping create a vessel to receive the light.

As for being in a group with other individual that also have the point in the heart, each person is supported in their journey of becoming more like the creator instead of being dragged down by others who are not seeking to bestow but to continue on the self serving path. When one person is enlightened, it paves the way for others to also become enlightened. Unfortunately, I don’t know anyone with my same interests and there are no groups near me that offer the same teachings. I can only hope that being part of this group helps.

I believe that helping others can come in many forms, but the biggest part has to do with “loving your neighbor as yourself”. To help with only the intention to give rather than seeking some reward from it. I am having trouble with some of this. I help my family, I volunteer and I seek out ways to make my partner less burdened or simply for his enjoyment, but in a lot of cases I can see how I might benefit. Does this boost my ego? Am I doing it to get something back? Do I expect things like a thank you? And so I am begging the creator to show me the way, to make me more like him, because it seems that no matter what I do, it all leads back to me. Perhaps my fellow group members can help me out.

aside from a lot of things previously mentioned, i think the newest part of the lessons for me might also be teaching that work in a Kabbalistic group has to do with everyone that participates agreeing to accept others’ viewpoint when difference of opinions arise, which enables the one accepting such to see and avoid enforcing their own limited ego viewpoint, while adopting the others’ viewpoint. In this way, the collective viewpoint is gradually attained by the group, as the merging beyond each ego’s self-concern expands to include the entire group. i’ll add that it gets better after replacing what bothers you about another person with genuine concern for their part of the collective viewpoint, meaning that instead of thinking of them with associations of how they annoy you, which is a very small percent of who they really are (if at all 🙂 ), think of them with associations for their part of striving toward the higher goal with an open heart to be supportive and helpful. after reading Zohar or some Kabbalistic texts and the KabU lessons, etc, it becomes a lot easier to do these things, since thankfully, reading, etc, brings my lowest point up a bit higher. (still hoping for the best !)

Setting the intention to attract the Light, not for myself but for others in the group.

If I have the capacity to fulfill someone’s desire/need and not do it for any pleasure for myself, then I’m carrying out the work the Creator created me to do

Realizing the bestowing force in existence triggers a sensation of inadequateness leading to a desire to resemble this bestowing force. Growing and working on the intention to bestow is most pleasant and less painful in an environment where the help of one another is permitted. To help others mean to treat them as yourself.
