Is this the right way to “correct” my egoistic nature: i observe that i am not at all altruistic (for example i give something and i think it is pure giving, but i become conscious of the fact that i want to receive something in return, maybe love or appreciation). This is becoming aware of the impossibilty to be pure altruistic. Then, step 2, i offer this awareness of my egoistic wish (to receive something in return) to the Creator and say: I give you my awareness of my egoism, i offer it to you. This is also an act of giving. Then there is nothing left of my egoism, i offered it all to Him. I don’t know if this is the right way to work with my egoistic desires?

        Ilse,
Yes, you are on the right path.
Keep going like this thinking about it, now I feel I am actually giving, now I see that I was actually receiving….again, now I feel like I’m giving, etc. etc…
And keep reading the study materials.
You’ll see how more and more opens up for you.

Thank you Seth, thats what i do indeed… and i see that i nearly never give something completely altruisticely, there is always this little thought of hoping to receive something in return (even if its only gratitude)….. help! 🙂

so to see if im understanding this correctly, I have to conduct my life in a more altruistic way to be closer to God, or the upper reality? whether be sharing my knowledge about something, sharing my skills, etc?

        <p style=”text-align: left;”>Nikki,</p>
in our world, humans find themselves in a very special degree. For example, parents with a soft loving heart, may need to discipline their children in a strict, stern, manner. For example, shouting and grabbing the child as he is running towards the street. Alternatively, a person can smile and give you a gift all the while hating and resenting you in their heart.

The wisdom of Kabbalah deals with the heart. And our heart, like all creation, is created as a desire to receive. Our goal in the study of Kabbalah is to acquire a second, spiritual nature.

We will learn about this and engage in this together in the group of Kabbalists and that influence will pour on the rest of creation. In the meantime we should behave in the world as is customary in the place that we live and simultaneously in our hearts we engage in the spiritual work.

      Hi Seth,

So far I think I am beginning to relate to this way of perceiving reality through the quality of “bestow”. If you can confirm if I have the right idea so far:

When I feel the most energized and full of life, it is when I am sharing something that someone wants. Like when I am teaching someone something that will help them progress financially and they really appreciate what I have shared.

Is this touching on the quality of bestow or is this again something related to my egoic will to receive?

Am I discovering the will to bestow through sharing my skills? or is this still the will to receive praise from the appreciation of another person?

        Jeffrey,

in all of reality there are two operating forces. From the side of the Creator, it is 100% bestow and from the side of creation, it is 100% reception. In this way, the Creator can fulfill the purpose of creation which is to create the creature and fill it with all His abundance.

When He fills creation, they are of complete opposite qualities. They could not be more different. Reception in this state separates the creation from the Creator, for as he receives, his qualities are opposite from the giver. In order to correct this, so that the creation can receive the abundance as the Creator intended and also be in adhesion with the Creator, the human degree acquires additional vessels whereby he can receive but he does so not to fulfill himself but in order to give contentment to the Creator Who wants to give.

All the incidents that occur in our world take place within the will to receive, but your example gives us preliminary feelings to learn what we are aiming towards.

How can one build similar qualities of the creator?

How do we start acquiring altruistic qualities?

      • #440377

        Chimuanya,

we can see an example of this process taking place with children. They are born with arms, legs, brain and mouth, but don’t know how to use any of them. In the environment of the upper ones (parents), they receive an upper influence which bestows on them and slowly, step by step, they begin to speak… without any formal classes or hours of studying, just from the good influence around them.

With a baby, this is a natural biological process that doesn’t require conscious effort from the baby. In spirituality, however, the process requires our involvement. We need to plant ourselves inside the Kabbalistic group and receive the upper influence from the books and the Rav and slowly, step by step, that upper influence works on us and naturally we acquire new qualities.

      Hello,

I understand the whole of reality is the thought of creation. I am confused about if the creator is separate from the thought of creation. It may be impossible to know.  Why can the thought of creation change? Or does it change?

      Thanks,

      -Curtis

        Curtis,
The thought of creation emanates from the Creator.
The nature of the Creator and what emanates from Him is eternal and unchanging.
Every change is from the side of the vessel as it develops to come into equivalence with Him.
All of His names, attributes, all of those only come from the side of the vessel.  From the side of the Creator He is, was and always will be.

          Hi Seth,

Is the thought of creation infinite? Is the creator outside the thought of creation thinking/creating it? As we progress through the spiritual world based on the lessons, I understand the ratio between reception and bestowal changes, and we become more and more like the creator. Is the end of the kabbalistic path gaining equivalence of form with the creator? It seems impossible.

          Thanks,

          -Curtis

          Hi Seth,

I see you’ve pretty much answered my question as I was looking through the forums

          Thank you for the effort,
