Why do we humans descend from the upper world to the physical world?

      • #460373

        György,
In the Upper Worlds there is no “human”.
Imagine that before you was two choices.  On the one hand, go sit in traffic and then go to work all day and on the other hand, come and take eternal fulfillment.  Which choice would you pick? 🙂
And if every choice was eternal fulfillment, then there is no choice and there is no human, we are absorbed into the light and that is the Upper Sensation.
However in order that we would feel ourselves as ourselves and also come to feel Him and His Light of eternal fulfillment, for that reason we were separated and from this place we now build ourselves back up to Him.

In “Attaining The Worlds Beyond” on page. 27. It mentioned ” Malchut entity”, which is described as all the worlds, all created beings , except for the Creator. However, I just need a bit clarification. I have taken Kabbalah classes before so this question may be a bit advanced for week 2. However, where does Adam  Ha Rishon come into this creation. As I understand this was the Kli( vessel) of  all human collective soul before it was fragmented. In addition, I know the 10th sefirot is known as Malchut. So ,you see  I need a bit of clarification on this matter. Thank you!

        Addontess,
        Great question.
Adam HaRishon comes “later in the story” so to speak.
The creation of Malchut is the creation of the general desire to receive.
Adam HaRishon will be a creature that will eventually be made of Malchut but will have the force of Bina mixed in him which makes him not entirely “terrestrial”, not entirely of the Earth, of Malchut.

Thinking of the 5 senses of the Kli (vessel)- they are anchoring us to the body and material world, to be able to develop a new sense beyond that we need to “ silence “ these 5 senses in order to develop a new one to rich  a level above to the upper world…

How can we help the process of ignore or  avoid  the 5 senses ?

        Peshka,
According to the eastern methods, you are correct, the senses need to be quieted in order to reach some spiritual degree.
In the wisdom of kabbalah, actually the desires keep growing.  It is specifically this and our inability to fill them that we finally turn to the Creator for something eternal, for something whole, for something good.
That is what we will learn together.

I just need to clarify something if “reality doesn’t exist outside of ourselves” – then what is this objective reality/upper worlds/will to bestow that IS outside of ourselves? Is this not a ‘true’ reality?

      • #452875

        Alex,
Before any creation, there was only the simple light evenly in all directions, endless.
But there is nothing to say about this.
As soon as we say anything, we are already limiting, so any reality that we feel is just that, it’s what we feel.
If there is no feeler, there is no reality.

How can we balance developing a closeness with the creator and living with the intention of the ‘will to bestow’ with living in the modern world – which often depends so much on us acting on our will to receive (eg. getting a good job, getting a promotion, earning enough money to live, progressing in life). Is it even possible to live within ‘the will to bestow’ and survive? Can you live in closeness with the creator/will to bestow and still be ambitious/driven in life?

        Alex,
You hit the nail right on the head.
That is exactly what the wisdom of kabbalah is dealing with, how can we be adhered to the Creator, to an eternal reality when I’m required to work and eat and sleep and clean up after myself, etc.
Draw a line, we’ll call it the “sium” below that line is all of our corporeal life, inanimate, vegetative and animate.
Below that line is everything and everyone that you know and see in the world and all the instances of the world.  This is where we live and we need to live in this world as people are accostomed to live.  Brush your teeth, make your bed, go to work, make a family.
And in addition to that you learn the wisdom of kabbalah, you draw the lights that surround your soul and you start to perceive a reality that is not perceptible to our material senses.

I’ve been watching quite a few of the Kab U videos as well as going through the lessons. So I may be getting ahead of the lessons in some ways. I recently completed Lesson 2 and was watching the related materials. I’m a bit confused by some of the examples given by Markos and Chris in their video on desire. Part of why I’m confused is I viewed videos on the same topics by Tony which seemed to contradict some things and express other things a bit differently. To begin with, Tony clearly explained the stages of human desire in 5 stages: food, shelter, sex, etc – wealth – power/prestige – knowledge – spiritual. Markos and Chris combined power/prestige with knowledge (which didn’t make sense). Then it appeared that Markos and Chris superimposed two different concepts: the stages of creation (still…vegetative…animate…conscious) with the states of human desire. It would appear to me that these two “stage models” are not overlapping but rather a continuation. Creation went from “big bang” through the four stages of creation, and then once human consciousness was achieved, then humanity as a whole and humans as individuals go through the 5 stages of desire. Are there 4 or are there 5 stages of desire? Are the stages of creation and the stages of human desire overlapping or totally separate concepts or consecutive as I believe them to be?

        Ben,
Welcome to the wisdom of kabbalah.  🙂
We usually study one topic, in one direction and we go through the discernments and clarifications around this topic.
Later we are studying something else, approaching from a different angle and things don’t seem like they did before.
Look at this picture of two batteries, they are the same size!  But, due to the perspective, the seem different.

So, get used to hearing things, is it 4, I thought they said 5.  Is this the top of the partzuf, I thought it was the bottom of the partzuf… etc, etc.  This happens all the time because we are looking at something that is multi dimensional and we can’t describe it all at once.
So if things sound a little confusing, this is also part of the learning process, the wisdom is constantly leading us to the next degree.
You’ll see that you’ll study the same book a year later and you’ll see things there that you never saw there before.
