Hi Seth, thanks for answering our questions!  I’ve been reflecting a lot on my relationship to the ego. Through the additional material with Asaf and Gil, I’ve come to understand more clearly that, in some way, it’s about using the ego. I can’t simply “skip over” it or fight against it. But what if the point in the heart has already grown to the extent that there is a soul (Ruach, Neshama)? Is the ego still the driving force even then? I also find myself stuck with the concept of the Masach. Simply saying “I receive, but not for myself” feels like a kind of trick like a spirtual bypass. Even in that case, I am creating the Masach because I want something—namely, spiritual progress. Do devotion and humility actually play a role here? Maybe you can help me clarify a bit the role of the ego and how it is placed in relation to the soul.

        Anna,
It turns out that to build the soul we need both lines.
If you know how an incandescent light works its a good analog example.
Energy is passing from the negative terminal towards the positive terminal.
If you put a filament, some screen between the flowing energy, then it glows.  If it is too thin it burns, we can call that each time we receive in order to receive.  So according to the negative force, we need to add the suitable resistance and the light appears.
And if the negative force is 10x greater than the work against it needs to be 10x greater and then the light is greater.

Of course we are still only doing this in order to receive a reward, there is no other way to begin, but little by little we accustom ourselves to the work and then we will work with bigger and bigger forces.

Thank you for great explanation and drawings. I am a visual learner and illustrations make it easier to recall. Re watching  videos, make lessons stick

Seth, your response to Dana in terms of whatever we have, whatever qualities we have, whatever each and everyone of us has, is all perfect, predetermined. When I pray, I do thank Hashem for blessing me with loving and wise parents, older sister and little brother. At the age of 15, the life I knew was gone forever. Many times along the way, I have looked back at my life many times and I have wondered, “what if” this or that had not happened? Where would I have been? What would my life have looked like? I talk to myself a lot and I have imagined that if a “magician” would come up to me and tell me that I could enter a world of magic and go back in time to prevent that terrible accident, would I? My response to myself has been a “no,” because without understanding or even knowing about Kabbalah, my reasoning has been that everything that has happened in my life was for a reason; all the suffering and all the egoism. I have watched Tony’s video four times. I drew on a notebook that I have been keeping to take notes and I drew what he drew. His explanations followed with the illustrations has opened my eyes. I believe I understand Phases 1 through 3. I have followed the videos and the readings. However, my understanding was sketchy, bits and pieces. I believe I understand so much only as of today, the fourth time of watching Tony’s video and illustrations; drawing them in my notebook, making my own notes on the side. However, here I am and I do not know how to reach Malhut, see through the screen, perceive outside the box. What I do know is that through your teachings, my vessel will one day join the other vessels and together join other vessels and so on so that we can pursue the Thoughts of Creation and not the actions of the creature. I believe I have learned much today. However, I still live in the world of egoism awaiting to learn to cross the barrier.

        Elisheva,
It is helpful to hear your feedback.
Taking notes, drawing the illustrations and writing down your states is very helpful.  You will see how your investment in the material  helps you to internalize the material.

Tony, thank you for your detailed illustrations and explanations regarding the Ten Sefirot and The Screen. I am understanding and thank you for your summaries. They are very helpful. It is not easy, almost impossible to understand Kabbalah just by reading books. I am understanding on a different level as you guide us. I feel that I am at the edge or tip of Phase 3. If that were to be so, how will I know that I will be approaching Phase 4? I understand it is not a “one step” ahead. It is a long journey. Thank you.

Friends, I´ve been puzzled with the question whether,(although being the end aim), do we

have to become the thought of Creation, or it just suffices being his conscious creatures.

      • #474930

        Ariano,
It turns out all of reality is only the Creator but there is no one there to experience Him.
Our work is to come to feel Him, to know Him, to be with Him.

“At the end of the journey, you can become a Kabbalist, able to live both in this world and the spiritual world at the same time.” Is it possible to become a Kabbalist in this life time – to live both in this world and the spiritual world at the same time – or is this sentence describing what is going to happen “in the end” when the vessel becomes like the Creator? Thank you

I see myself as Malkhud, dealing with Da át

        Ngozi,
We are expecting this in our lifetime.
It is not simple.  If you want to be a piano player or a ballet dancer it takes time and effort.
To achieve the revelation of our soul also requires correct efforts.  This is our goal to reach this together in our lifetime.
