csillaPartícipeif “concealment” is referring to when the Light is hidden from us, then we won’t see the higher spiritual pleasure of receiving Light. As a result, the lower worldly pleasures appear more attractive, but like a mirage, since the light obtained is fleeting at best, since it goes away quickly (or doesn’t enter the kli at all).
but, looking at the question again: “In which situations…?”
it seems like the pull toward the normal life pleasures is in direct proportion to concealment; so, if this is true (seems like it is as i think about it), i would suggest that the question is referring to situations where a person is giving into such pleasures to receive for one’s self alone and doing so to the extent that she actually creates the concealment, which seems kind of sad – given how easily such a lapse in spiritual integrity could be avoided.
Well, in all fairness, mood swings and confused thoughts irl aren’t always that easy to avoid (i was initially thinking of situations involving sweets or coffee!), but the truly sad situations would involve “not seeing the Providence” and “unable to pray” …
finally, i remembered this last bit is from Shamati pp. 74-76 or p. 403 from Kabbalah Revealed Part 2, the passage is entitled “Concealment and Disclosure of the Face of the Creator”

Katrina LeeksPartícipeI’m kind of stumped on this question. It makes me think of how people conceal certain things to be more polite, to be better company, etc.

Janae Ben-ShabatPartícipeConcealment makes something more attractive precisely when it creates a true lack and therefore builds the Kli. When the Light is revealed openly, the will to receive grabs it automatically and the person remains in self-reception, which actually damages the possibility of equivalence of form and produces “bread of shame.” Concealment, on the other hand, leaves a person with only a trace and an impression—Reshimot—and the Light is then felt as Ohr Makif from the outside: it doesn’t fill, it awakens longing.

SmithPartícipeIf I am selfish and only receiving for my own pleasure, and I am ignorant of the fact that pleasure can be eternal without canceling out upon reaching my vessel, then receiving for myself alone seems more attractive than it actually is.
