I have struggled on how to respond to this question. Reading the responses from the group is opening my mind though with further question. Yes, now I try to question the “gifts” of events in my life not from the perspective of what I can gain from it (consciously) but turning it around to try and see everything from the creators perspective. So on the whole, the events are neither good nor bad but bestowal is still not clear; am I receiving and accepting events in my life as a form of giving to the creator? Or is it about the benefits that the events bring to others, and me being able to recognise it? Is it about the corporeal world or about accepting that the events as benefiting the correction of creation as a whole?
I am reminded that life is more than what I perceive with my senses. That there is a literal whole (wholeness of) experience that I am not perceiving; and that my life’s work is to be developing the apparatus to glean as much of what is beyond as is capable in this form. There is something about being aware of that which helps with more flow and flexibility in and through life. Like I don’t have to be bogged down, nailed down, restricted by any version of reality suggested by others – that I can live in the direct experience (or having a willing posture to be in direct experience of) the Creator and its creation.
I like the Idea of the path of pain, we want to receive only for ourselves thus creating pain for us and others. But if we listen closely, we can walk the path of Torah. The path of truth, the thin line, the golden path, to connect to g-d, to reveal the light that was always there. Even if events seem bad in life, it is actually a chance to grow our desire and to reconnect with to God and reveal light.
I’m beginning to understand that everything I interact with, and everything I perceive as being outside of me, is the Creator or comes from the Creator. It’s a relationship I’m attempting to reconnect with and cultivate.
With this understanding, I’m learning to approach every moment of my life, everything I experience, as something coming from a loving force, regardless of how I might initially perceive it.
This is a profound shift in perception, and I’m really enjoying experimenting with it and challenging myself to see everything in this way. What’s especially interesting is that I’m beginning to notice that it’s working. I’m actually starting to experience the world differently.
