      An increase in the desire to receive pleasure in humanity. The greater the pleasure sought the greater the chaos and what an ego will do to attain something in this world.

      The ego has grown to an extent that it has reached a maximum threshold of selfish and evil desires.

      From what I understand the ego has risen to this degree through our inability to be satisfied.  It appears that this direction of the ego is/was necessary for individuals to realize there must be something else to this life and ultimately lead us to the answers which are in the teachings of Kabbalah.
