DallasPartícipeI find it interesting that the lessons of mystical schools which are heavily kabbalahistically influenced, all teach the “death of self” but I believe this to mean the not wishing to receive for the sake of ego. The “death of ego” being the beginning of the will to bestow. Also Christ’s teachings of “sell all your possessions and give the money to the poor” seems to be a radical idea until viewed in this light of will to bestow.

Seth – KabU InstructorModeratorDallas,
Yes, it means that we do not want to receive for the sake of the ego.

Aliona LPartícipeI am struggling with what feels like the notion that in order to attain a ‘higher’ reality, we must transcend / come out of the body. This principle feels like it may be separating body from divinity/ Creator and feels like a masculine principle (masculine transcends/ feminine descends). Through the teachings of Kabbalah, does the body hold wisdom/ access point to the Divine?

Seth – KabU InstructorModeratorAliona,
All of these feelings are coming to you from nature/God and now we need to arrange our hearts and minds and work with these forces. It’s like fire and water, it can keep us warm and nurture us or it can burn, flood and destroy…the exact same forces, it is how we work with them correctly.
Everyone who is paying attention and is sensitive feels that we are not fully at home in our bodies. This is on purpose, our soul is not made of oxygen, carbon, hydrogen, nitrogen, calcium, and phosphorus like our body is. Our soul is not material, it is something eternal. However specifically by being in this world, in these bodies we have the opportunity to begin to measure eternity.
What do I mean by that?
Well if we are light, immersed in light, then there is no feeling of ourselves or feeling the light itself…like a drop of water feeling itself in the ocean.
So by the descent of the souls and the shattering, now, from this vantage point, we can begin to feel measure where the light is, what it is, what real love is..or could be, as we measure it as opposite from what we feel now as a limited world filled with wars and emptiness, etc.
Regarding the masculine/feminine, we must remember that in the spiritual work all of these forces exist inside of a person.
There is much more to open up in your question and we will have time to talk about everything. In short, the bestowing force is referred to as male and the receiving vessel where that light dwells is called the female force. Both of these are in each person and when we speak in the wisdom of kabbalah, we are not talking about spiritual qualities, not gender or something earthly.

PartícipeWhen a person develop the point of heart do they become similar to the light of the Creator

Seth – KabU InstructorModeratorCarl,
Just like a sperm contains the whole man, but in potential.
The point in the heart is like a spiritual sperm. It is the seed of your soul that if it is planted in the right womb, the right environment it will be able to develop all of the NRNHY (the five parts of the soul, Nefesh, Ruach, Neshama, Haya and Yechida). And the soul is a part of the Light of the Creator.

PartícipeHow does one know when they’ve ascended to a specific degree in the spiritual world? Are you able to enter in and out of the spiritual world on demand? What does that look like? Those of you who have been practicing for years, what is that you’re experiencing that informs you beyond a shadow of a doubt the truth of Kabbalah?

Seth – KabU InstructorModeratorAdam,
Attainment is perception, as if you are holding it in your hand.
If you go to New York City, you know you are in New York City, you know the smells, the sights and the sounds. And if you leave, you still have rememberences of being there, you have “reshimot” of the experience of being there (of the light entering that vessel).
Similarly, spirituality is no less tangible in your senses, but not in your 5 corporeal senses. It would be like a person who was born blind, God forbid and then through some miracle the doctors figure out a way to correct his sight and then he can see. He can now see a world that was already there but he didn’t have the vessel of perception to see it.You will build your foundation step by step. No blind faith.
First things first, the kabbalists are telling us that all of creation is a will to receive. Your inner work now is to identify your will to receive. Do not judge it now, simply identify it. Identify that force that is operating your every thought and desire. Identify that force that is operating in every squirrel and bird, in every boss and employee.
From here we will be able to add additional discernments. But first we need to identify what it is that the Creator created.
Good luck and enjoy the journey.

PartícipeHi Seth,
This may have been asked already and apologize if I missed the question.
Can you please share who or what are we bestowing to? Can this be our families , friends and co workers or is it more of giving “good energy’ or gratitude to the Creator?
Also I read in one of your answers that we constantly need to develop a desire or “pray” to have the desire to bestow. Are theses prayers in future lessons and are they religion type prayers?
- October 23, 2025 at 8:08 pm EDT #461717
Seth – KabU InstructorModeratorEdwin,
We can bestow to everyone and they may not know it.
Can we say that piano felt the love and passion of Beethoven when he played it?
The kabbalist lives in two worlds. This world like everyone else and another world, a world of bestowal and love and only those who are on that degree can perceive that. Two kabbalists can recognize each other but a regular person would have no idea who is a kabbalist, there are no external signs. There are prayers that were arranged by the sages, but what we are discussing mainly is the desire of the heart. You can speak to the Creator like He is your most beloved.
Also if you are looking for something to read, the Psalms of King David are very powerful. David included the whole Malchut of all of the desire of Israel.
