Hi. I have a question regarding the concept of prayer towards the Creator: through prayer, we ask God or the Creator to change their ideas or behaviour towards us, as if we are making a plea.  It is my understanding from the lesson that the upper forces don’t change or bend in response to our prayers. The only way is to rise above that need or wanting.

In the same video, it was said that Lishma is granted from above if we reach a certain state or level. Does it mean that the upper forces or the Creator respond to a certain state of being in an individual? Does it mean that we need to work our way through certain states to be ready for the Lishma to come to us? How does it work? The only way is to become like creator, the creator doesn’t do anything and unresponsive to prayers, and  we can not proceed unless we are ranked or chosen? Could you please shed some light?

        Farzin,
The Creator is standing waiting to fill us with everything, all according to our desire.
The work in prayer is to make our desire suitable to what He wants to give us.
The problem is first, we don’t even know who He is and what He can give us.  We think in small terms.
For example ask a 3 year old child if he would prefer an ice cream cone or a $100 bill.
To the 3 year old, they would always pick the ice cream, they don’t have any vessels yet to value the $100 bill.
We are the same towards the Creator.  He wants to give us the $100″ but we want ice cream, so in the meantime we get ice cream.

I know i already asked some questions but i wanted to share, last couple days have been challengeing for my ego, where ive felt like people do me wrong, and certain things are unfair and unneccacary, like something always need to happen and go wrong(even though these are not monumental things) I assume the reasonfor my displeasure has been bc of my desire to recive pleasure through these circumstances and i felt/percived that i wasnt getting that pleasure at the time.

My only problem is how do we balance actually dealing wtih other people and knowing when to actually say “hey i didnt appreciat that abehaviour/ tone/treatment” vs saying “okay this is just my ego nature filtering this situation making me think this situatuion is an attack against me/this is personal. No need to make a deal of it.  I feel like the ladder rewspons is more in line with the idea of everything being something good from the creator, and if i act on the first example im basically saying “i dont belive this was good and from you HAshem”  (because why then would i dislike what happened and want the person to stop doing so?

        Yeabsera,
The answer to this question is very natural, but not obvious.
Let’s use an example from our bodies to help us.
We are breathing, unconsciously all through the night, and all day long, maybe we catch ourselves and so some breathing exercises, but for the most part, it’s totally automatic.
And also, you can prepare lunch and dinner with your hands very consciously, which ingredients, how to cut everything, at what temperature, etc.
These are two totally differnt, but very connected systems operating with seemingly no connection to each other.

Now let’s return to your example.  In the world, you need to behave like a regular creature.  What do you think happens if you poke a bear?!  You don’t want to find out.  What happens when you scare a bird?  It flies a way, etc, etc, etc.
We also have an animal part in us, that is the body that lives in this world.  Don’t confuse yourself with spiritual concepts in relationships that are very animalistic.  If someone pushes you so 1. Get away from them fast 2. Confront them 3. In an extreme situation maybe even hit them back and harder so that you are not in danger.
Of course we are not saying to hit anyone, but you have to be clear about how this world operates.  Maybe it’s more clear if you think in terms of an annoying fly instead of a person.  If a fly comes and lands on your food are you just going to say, “my ego doesn’t like it that this fly that was just sitting on a pile of dog dung is now on my sandwich”.
Of course not, you will make sure it doesn’t land on your sandwich.

So, this world is this world.
Now, spiritually, that is a whole other level, like you are living on two planets at the same time.
In your heart, you can make all kinds of calculations and understandings.  With your hands you can push away, with you heart you may be drawing close and vice versa.
Slowly slowly you will accustom yourself to this.

so why do i feel a shrinking feeling in desire for spirituality, atlurism, getting to know the creator and adhereing to him, my corporeal desires have taken over this week, ive barely finished reading the texts for week 8, now mind you it wasnt evil desires, other things just occupied my mind and heart,  how do i balance living my corpreal desires and prusing those that are good for me (i.e buissnes and heatlh etc) and regain that main desire?    I saw the preparation question for this week was about clarifying the goal, how do we correct our goal? much gratitude !!

        Yeasbera,
This is natural and is written about 100s of times and more in the texts.
At first you are given an awakening from above.
And after that, as you are advancing and what you are experiencing is advancement, the development based on what your ego thinks it will gain from spirituality disappear a bit and then you have a chance to advance not based on the prize that the ego thinks he will get.
When the ego thinks he will get a prize, he has endless power to advance, even to forgo sleep and all kinds of things.
But as soon as the ego feels that maybe he won’t be awarded, so then he doesn’t give us any power to work and here we are given the opportunity to advance not based on the ego.  This is a sign of advancement and it happens to everyone.
And here we need the spiritual environment to provide to us the greatness of the Creator, the greatness of bestowal so that we will b able to advance.
The advice here is to advance out of habit, just keep going.  Make a framework for yourself, maybe you have 1 or 2 hours per week that you set aside to study, so maintain that whether your body feels like it or not.  And this state will pass and quickly and you will receive another portion of light and be filled with inspiration again.  The main thing is not to draw out the state you are in for a long time.

Okay so correcting the goal means correcting and understanding whether I’m driven by ego desire to recive through the study or the desire to eventually become aligned with the creator in all the ways of  its meaning(to be aligned)?

Accidentally replied on someone else’s question don’t mind that

What is meant in the tip of the week to try and let the environment influence me? “Try and let the environment influence you – especially when spirituality feels distant, unattractive, unappetizing and dry. These are exactly the times when we hasten time. Full speed ahead!”

        Ngozi,
An animal moves when he feels good and he moves away when he feels bad.
A person is above an animal and can plant himself in a place that affects him so that he doesn’t move just based on what he feels, but instead he moves based on what he already determined what was a correct place to receive influence.

Thanks Seth. For clarification, is the environment referred to, the kabbalistic group/environment or any place a person determines is a correct place to receive influence?

          Ngozi,
Yes, we are referring to the kabbalistic group, the place where we receive the importance of spirituality, the place that always raises the greatness of the Creator in our eyes so that we can be lifted over all the obstacles and rise ever higher.

sorry to bother for this question, but i don’t understand the quote, if someone would please explain the quote (below), because i unfortunately don’t understand much beginning with who are the ‘them’, the ‘anyone’ and the ‘one’ complaining; and then, the actual intended meaning is difficult, since i may not understand, in which way the reader is supposed to identify with the examples, meaning, is the opposite intended as what is preferable? sorry, i’m just confused by it. thanks though 🙂 very much.

One can complain only to the one he works for, and demand to be given vitality and pleasure during his work. It is said about him: “Anyone that trusts them shall be like them that maketh them.”

      • #487084

        Csilla,
This is a quote from article 20 in the book of Shamati.
What is happening here is to say that if you work at FedEx all week, you can’t expect that UPS will pay you at the end of the week.
In our context, if we are working all week for the will to receive then we can’t complain to the Creator that He didn’t pay us.
Of course it is a coarse example but it is taking a high concept and bringing it down to us to comprehend.

The thing is that if our will to receive agrees to work for the Creator, then we are working because we the will to receive knows he will be paid for the work, so he gives us energy to pursue our spiritual goal.  In this case we would never be able to exit the boundaries of our ego, since the will to receive would be taking all of the profit from our work.

So we have step by step process where we accustom ourselves to do the spiritual work, at first in order to receive reward for ourselves and slowly slowly under the influence of the light and the environment that increases the importance of the spiritual work, we accustom ourselves to work without reward.

And the benefit of this is that when we are able to receive without reward (which is a special quality that only comes to us from above as a gift from above after many efforts), at that time we can receive endlessly since our receiving is not in order to fill our own pockets or our own belly, our vessel becomes limitless so then we can receive without limit.

Dear Seth, thank you very much for your patience and explanation, i now understand that aspect, due to your explanation, which relate it to this week’s lesson. thanks gain. sincerely, Csilla 🙂

        Fredrick,
Let’s say for now, the answer is yes.
I am giving that answer because as you continue your spiritual journey and ask that same question in one year after you have been through many states and many discernments you will feel the question and the answer in new ways.
        Good luck and keep rising!
