Aleta
ParticipantThere must be many words that share the 3 consonants, SH-L-M so how can you say that Shalom peace is meaningfully connected to only one of those words, Connection?
Aleta
ParticipantMy name is Aleta and I live in Pennsylvania, USA. I don’t exactly know why I am studying in this course, but it feels right and good to do. I am 78yo.😀

ParticipantI do not understand how your response answers my questions. Perhaps I was not clear. I am questioning what are the specific commitments to teacher, books and group that you said is the essential requirement for continuing to learn Kabbalah with you. Thank you.

ParticipantWhat specifically do you mean when you say that what a student of Kabbalah only needs is a commitment to the group, the books. and the teacher. In terms of the group of fellow students, am I correct in thinking this means that when you are together you trust that all involved are seeking in the same understanding and intent of practice? Or are there other components? Is commitment being used here to mean trust in its validity or something else? Thank you.

ParticipantOne of the difficulties that I am having is semantic. There is much use of words such as “good” “sin” “commandments”, which makes me feel that there is a set, static understanding of the will of the Creator or Upper World. There seems to be a simplistic overlay called altruism which is defined by worldly or egoistic standards. I realize that the Kabbalist Sages use phraseology that can be unfamiliar, if not archaic, but my difficulties seem to be that many words connote conceptual authority or dogmatism while claiming none! It is my hope that this will be cleared up when we get into the actual practice of alignment or correction, but it haunts me. Thank you.
