    Hello Gianni,

As I recall an early Kabbalah class, I heard Tony say something along the line that praying to the Creator to change something that is occurring in our life is what religious people do, that what we should pray for is for understanding as to why something is happening. I was just watching a Daily lesson from last year where a student said their ten is praying for a family member who is sick, but the person is not getting better. The Rav responded to have more people pray. I am confused now. Why we would ask the Creator to change something that is occurring in our lives, if we believe that everything he does is good? Should we not pray for understanding and strength?

    Hello Gianni.

I keep hearing in various classes and reading in various articles that we have to come to the point that we realize we don’t and can’t really love our friends and that we have to reach a point where we feel so deeply how much we love ourselves that we are thoroughly disgusted and ask the Creator to help us change. Yet all I hear in the tens is how much in love everyone is with their friends, and so on. Should we not be trying to uncover our deep-seated love for ourselves, and not trying to fool ourselves into believing we love one another? It seems that trying to get ourselves to believe that we really love one another is prolonging our progress in the work, because until we come to the realization how evil we are in our will to receive we cannot come to a true prayer and that is what is needed.

    What am I missing?

In our tens, what are we actually supposed to be bestowing to our friends (besides love)? Is it bestowal if a friend doesn’t want or ask for something so they have no clue that another friend is bestowing but the bestower insists that they accept it? If someone bestows something we do not desire, but we accept it does that make it that the person receiving is actually bestowing? I have read we should taken on the desires of our friends, but what desires are acceptable? I would think it means spiritual desires, but I’m not sure if that is true.

In English your mind tries to make sense of what is being said, in Hebrew it becomes almost like a mantra or meditative sound where you can focus better.
