The Jews did not break the idols, but broke the structure of society at that time so that humanity could rise to a higher level.

What am able to make of all the text we read in the Bible about Abraham and his separation from his family, to chart a different course, all boils down to deep seated understanding of Natural Phenomenon and the way Nature relates to the individuals.

One of the take home messages about the stories of the Tower of Babel, Sodom and Gomorrah, and the School of Wisdom founded by Abraham is that the Babel story shows humanity at its worst in a totalitarian state, and the story of Sodom shows us the worst excesses of an extreme Libertarian “community,” but Abraham’s school was in the goldilocks zone, giving the world an example of a perfectly balanced, harmonious way to approach life. It was the seed for an ideal social model, and even though Abraham faced many problems and challenges, he and his school of wisdom possessed the optimal approach for successful living, which is the basis of the wisdom of Kabbalah.

I believe that the pressure put on the Jew in a way is for unity and perhaps we will follow in there example to the world.
