  • Steve Miley,
So the Creator made you a great DJ, that you activated some tendency that you received from heaven, that’s not spiritual.  What about someone who didn’t receive a tendency like this?
The part that is spiritual is the attitude.  If his true intention is for the benefit of others, that is considered that he has become a spiritual person.
From love of the others we come to love of the Creator.

    Brad,
You can do whatever you want.
The kabbalists are giving advises for those who want to follow the path that they have traversed before us.
There is no problem, in fact it is good to have a healthy, warm family and in all families there are different interests and beliefs.  Why is there a problem sitting with your family for an event that they hold dear to them?  There is no problem.
Concerning idolatry, anything that we feel has power besides the Creator is referred to idolatry in the wisdom of kabbalah.
If you feel it is the police officer pulling you over and not the Creator, that is also idolatry, but let’s not get confused now, we are just beginning.

    Ben,
If you say God to a Hindu, he thinks of Krishna, who is blue
If you say God to a Christian, he may think of his God  with fair skin nailed to a wooden cross
If you say God to a Jew he may think of the invisible God of the Jews
And all of the thousands of different worldviews all view everything according to their own perception.
So we don’t know you and you don’t know us and we are not studying the same texts for many years together yet, so of course we can’t share definitions.
If you study the wisdom of kabbalah from books written by kabbalists who attained the degrees that they are writing of and if you study from a teacher who also attained these things and if you are working together in a kabbalistic group with others who are with the teacher and studying the texts and want to attain adhesion with the Creator, then all of these questions will become clear to you how the entire Torah takes place inside of a person, how besides the person, all of reality is only the Creator.  And all of the 70 nations and the nation of Israel are all desires, states within a person.
So you have a lot to learn if you want to come to the true wisdom of kabbalah.  There are many ideas and definitions that you formed over many years and ways of thinking that lead you down paths that don’t bear fruit.
    This happens to everyone.
But not everyone is given such an opportunity.
So my advice is follow the course material as you would any serious hobby.  Invest some time each day or each week and be consistent.
    And develop naturally and consistently.
Good luck and hope to see you around,
    Seth@KabU

    Cinco,
    These are excellent questions.
You are correct in your approach.  You are not required to make some jump of blind faith.
The kabbalists say one should believe there is only the Creator.  But this is only if we want to feel what they feel.
They are not holding anyone’s hand in the fire and saying, do this or do that.
The are saying, I climbed the mountain and from where I am standing, this is what I see.
It is a like a person who goes to the doctor and the doctor gives him a cure and the person says, I will wait until I go to medical school and acquire all of this experience before I will accept what the doctor says.
This is a great benefit of man over beast, that we can learn from each other like this and also from generation to generation, we don’t start over like a cow or a bear or a lion who every generation, there is not much change, but with us, we can develop much more and quickly.
You can and should test what you are learning.
I learned that all of creation is a will to receive.
So, I need to test that.  I examine myself and I examine the plants and the animals and the other people around me and I see, are they operated by the desires that arise in them?
If I feel that this wisdom is explaining my life to me, then I continue.
Later, later we will learn about a degree of spiritual perception which is above our mind, but this is after we acquire additional vessels of perception that are above the mind.

    Exactly

    Ilya,
We have no ability to know or feel what is spiritual bestowal.  We can approximate by looking at the love of a parent towards a child, but this too, if we examine it is also egoistic.
In order to come to have an intention to bestow, first we reach the nullificaiton of our own personal interests.
However, be cautioned, not to go out into your day and start acting like you don’t need anything and eating stone soup for dinner and sleeping on the floor.
    Absolutely not.
Nullifying your own personal interests comes naturally as a result of being more and more influenced by positive spiritual example.
There is a rule in nature that the small one naturally annuls before the big one.  For example if you are child soccer player and you saw Lionel Messi, you would be immediately nullified by the greatest soccer player alive, you’d be in awe, wanting to watch how he moves, how he speaks, you’d be happy to carry his bags and stay up talking as long as he wants.
Similarly, we don’t fight with our ego, we invest more in the spiritual environment until it becomes bigger in our eyes than our corporeal desires and the nullification happens naturally and in this process we draw light upon us that raises us to a spiritual embryo and our spiritual birth begins.
