  • Esther,
If I refer to the musical note E.  It means something to me, but it doesn’t mean that much to me.
But if I was a trained musician who practiced for 8 hours a day, I have a relation with E.  I can hear that note in my head even without an instrument.  I know how to approach the E note to make is sound powerful or subtle.  If I play an F# after it it, called a 2nd, it  sounds foreboding like in Jaws.  If I play a B note after it, called a 5th, it  sounds epic like in Star Wars.  There are a lot of qualities, maybe endless qualities to the note E.
And so it is with definitions in the wisdom of kabbalah.  We are using words that everyone uses, but we are pointing to spiritual operations.  So although E is E, E is not always E :))
In other words there is a lot of information packed in the world bestowal.
When a kabbalist writes about bestowal, he is pointing to a spiritual quality.
Certainly in our world the love of a mother is an expression of bestowal and this stems from the root of the mother and the child in Bina and her relation to Malchut.  But in our world this is not the bestowal that the kabbalists are writing about.
All of the system of nature is built on reception and bestowal, on – & +.
When we refer to bestowal we are speaking of spiritual + which is something that is on a degree above the animal degree which is where our bodies are.

    Zohreh,
We do many actions and efforts trying to come to this love, over many incarnations.
We feel that we have some good in us and some bad in us, it’s all a lie.  We discover that we are a 100% vessel to receive.      When we reveal who we are, we see that we are only a will to receive pleasure and that controls all of our thoughts, our emotions, each and every cell is tied to this exquisite system.  When we realize that, we are finally realizing the truth.  So even though we realize that we are 100% receivers, it is true.  So, it’s our first real step on the spiritual path, we have diagnosis, now we know what remedy we need.
The Creator did everything up to here.  He made us like this, we have nothing to be sorry about. He made this desire with this quality to receive.  That is what He did.
Now we need to ask Him for a second nature.
This is the matter of prayer which we will discuss in the future.
From the influence we feel from the books and the spiritual group that makes this goal great in my eyes, I come to a true need for this quality of bestowal and love.  That is called building a true prayer.
There is no deficiency on the side of the Light.  The Light stands ready to fill us, we just need to build that vessel.  That is what we will learn and work on.

    Etienne,
It’s mostly correct.  It’s a very good understanding.
The receiver will remain a receiver.  This receiver is the only thing that the Creator created.
Upon her will to receive she will build a screen.  According to her intention/attitude to want to be like the Creator, that determines how much she bestows back to the Creator.

    JP,
    We have a problem.
In spirituality there is no time, no past and no present.
So we need to speak about something, and we are a little bit more than monkeys and we need to perceive spiritual reality beyond time.
So what the kabbalists gave us in their books is what they attained.  They felt those spiritual things and then with a pen and paper they conveyed those attainments to us.  For us as we go from sensation to sensation, we perceive that as the passing of time.  We write these four phases and their root phase as a sequence, but it is more like a like of code and until the whole line of code is read and executed, nothing happens, once the code is executed, it all takes place together.
We’ll come across this blueprint when we learn about worlds, the sefirot, the partzufim, about our soul and in many more places.

    Anthie,
This question is just like your previous question, but with more clarifications.
Rabash explains the two souls very clearly as a beastly soul and a Godly soul.
All living creatures have a beastly soul.  For example we don’t consume white light.  That light cascades down through all of the worlds of concealment until it reaches the lowest point and a spark becomes matter and then that matter develops from star dust into vegetation into animals to us.  So when we want to consume pleasure we can’t simply consume white light, the light is dressed in a mango or in a touch, the spark of light is dressed in matter.  That is called the beastly soul that every creature has that sustains it.
The Godly soul is what we talked about below in the answer to your previous question.

    Hi Anthie,
We have 5 spiritual senses, when the soul clothes the light in 5 degrees, nefesh, ruach, neshama, haya and yechida.  Are corporeal senses are like branches from each of these spiritual roots.  Four senses on the face and touch as the “lowest” sense.
There is no mistaking a feeling.  When you taste sweet, you are tasting sweet.  When you feel heat, you are feeling heat.
It’s not a dream, it’s not a vision, it’s nothing blurry, it’s a sense, but it’s a spiritual sense, you don’t feel things from this material world in spiritual senses.
How do we feel spiritual senses, well that is what the whole wisdom of kabbalah is about.  Kabbalah means to receive, the wisdom of kabbalah is how to receive the endless fulfillment that the Creator wants to give to us.
For that we have many processes and operations that we go through, many ups and downs and all of this is to start to measure.
Remember, we start in a field of endless light.  Everything is filled evenly in all directions with endless light.
Then we learn at first we plant ourselves in the community of people who are studying the books of the kabbalists and I start to develop my soul which is the vessel in which some of this light can fill and be felt.
Very excited for you and the adventure you have embarked upon,
    Seth@KabU
