I think it means that the “others” are our first opportunity to get direct verbal instruction and communication from the Creator. He (they) can tell us exactly what to do and what to work on in ourselves, and point to what our priorities are in becoming functional in a system of bestowal.

Seeing others as superior to yourself and contributing to their spiritual development is altruism. Helping others will attract more light and accelerate your spiritual development.

To be like the creator we need to bestow upon others like the creator. Helping others brings pleasure to the receiver and it would be one form of bestowal that we can make which would allow us to attract the light that reforms. So, anytime we are given a reason to help others, if we are in a position where we can, we should help others on the path and we can both move along the spiritual path together.
