Preparation Question: Our entire work in Kabbalah is only to attract the light that reforms. By this we receive everything we need for our advancement. Furthermore, I’m told that if I will help the others, I will advance myself even more towards spirituality. How does this work? What does it mean to help the others, those with the point in the heart, on the spiritual path?

The concept of community is quite challenging for an introvert.  However, I think that because everyone has a common goal then everyone’s intent and focus will be on achieving that goal.   The outcome is based on the sum of the collective parts.  What will be interesting but also potentially challenging is understanding how the ego works within this ‘lab’ environment.

By understanding others desire, it becomes mine and mine theirs, together as one we receive more light, giving to the Creator

High spirits, resolve towards the goal, elevating the importance of the giver. Providing opportunities for the recognition of evil, like the example of the two magnets colliding.

To perceive the situations and people with whom we interact as a feedback system or mirror; to listen closely to and communicate observations with others – and consciously observe the inner dynamics; to do so with spiritual intent and manage the toxicity of ego.

For me, a key component in this process is to learn how to receive criticism. Learning to hear the voice of a friend as the voice of the creator is a strange concept to me… I have always considered Job’s friends and they’re misunderstanding of his being tested. That being said, I come from a dance background where criticism is actually a compliment on one’s potential to improve. Without a community there is no real conflict to push us forward. Without community there is no opportunity for criticism. Without community we would lose the opportunity to actually begin to love our neighbor as ourselves and all that comes with that. In the verse citing this love, the Shema, joined with the idea of loving your neighbor as yourself is also loving the creator with all of our heart, mind, and strength… In my mind they must be intrinsically tied principles. To love the creator I must love others. To love others I must be able to accept and love myself.
