There’s some flexibility in how the Kabbalists express these things because they try to talk to the one’s who are going to attain them.
GAR refers to the Upper Sefirot, ZAT to the lower Sefirot.
Sefirot are essentially corrected Kelim, which shine in their correction.
Ohr Hochma is the Light of the purpose of Creation; Ohr Hassidim is the Light of the correction of Creation, when the Created Being clothes actions of bestowal.

It is always becoming coarser, on the one hand.
On the other hand, only spiritual elevations result in qualitatively greater coarseness.
Coarseness (aviut) is the matter on which we rise to spiritual attainment, which has to be risen above, or inverted.
For starters, you can think of it as the resistance to connection and the ingenuity with which this resistance is administered. This is a product of the degree of coarseness. It’s bad if I don’t have a group, to exit out of my desire to; but if I have a group and know how to use it and ask the Creator, then a great Aviut is good, defines the height I can ascend to.
