Write a few words about yourself and about what you expect from the course. #405271Philip Iyov EcksParticipantHello, my name is Phil, and I have been a seeker of spirituality for nigh on 55 years. I discovered Kabbalah and Zohar 5 years ago and have been pretty much studying on my own ( I live in the Yukon territory of Canada). My first encounter with Kabbalah were books I bought written by the RamHal, Rabbi Moshe Chaim Luzzatto. From that beginning I found KabU some 3 years ago and have been studying the materials on the site. Finally last year I signed up for the courses and have had an amazing experience, which I hope will continue.
Shalom.
November 25, 2024 at 12:05 am EST in reply to: Preparation Prompt: What does transitioning from a self-centered perception of reality to one grounded in altruism entail? #405269Philip Iyov EcksParticipantUnderstanding that my desire is not that different from the desires of my neighbor. I need to learn how to feel that deeply and develop the intention to bestow upon my neighbor. To fulfill the needs of others without any expectation of reward or receiving for myself.
November 19, 2024 at 11:23 pm EST in reply to: Preparation Question: Congratulations on progressing through the intermediary stages of your Kabbalah learning by staring this new course! Since the wisdom of Kabbalah deals with developing our precious eternal part—the soul—it is important to take a moment to note your expectations from this stage of your journey, and later check back and see what aligned with or differed from your expectations, and how you might’ve changed in the process: What do you hope to get out of this course you’re now starting? #402377Philip Iyov EcksParticipantI view these courses from KabU to be just the tip of the iceberg. There is so very much to learn and I am at the beginning of this wonderful journey. I expect that this course will expand upon the principles I have already studied here and assist me in the development of the skill-set I need to rise above my egoism, connect with the ‘others’ in the world and live a life that is necessary for true development of the collective soul.
Shalom.

November 19, 2024 at 11:12 pm EST in reply to: What was my best experience from the previous course? What do I expect from this course? #402374Philip Iyov EcksParticipantI really enjoyed the first two semesters of Kabbalahrevealed, as it has offered a foundation in knowledge and provided the tools necessary to begin deeper study into Kabbalah. I expect that this course will continue to develop and deepen my experience with Kabbalah study. For me these studies represent a methodology for working in spirituality as I endeavor to achieve equivalence of form with the G-d.
Shalom
Philip Iyov EcksParticipant1) It is the simplicity of this Kabbalah study that has inspired me. All my life I have encountered religions and philosophies that had a great number of rules and methods to achieve the things they teach and in all cases I found endless contradictions. Kabbalah has but one goal, one method, one rule, “love thy neighbour as yourself”, beautiful!
2) That I am so far away from the goal and that the things in life I felt were important are simply not. There is much I need to unlearn as there is just as much to discover and the study of Kabbalah is showing me the path and the method to accomplish both. I have a lot of work to do.
3) I pray and wish for thier success so that in doing so I may also be elevated and learn how to grow with the other’s in a meaningful manner as we all progress towards ‘loving thy neighbour…’ and helping to complete the correction for all.
