I really like the explanation of what prayer truly is. Many people I know, including myself, have prayed to God to help us through some “bad thing” in our lives. When I was young, I was at a youth group meeting from my church. The youth leader asked for prayer requests, and others began asking for prayers to heal, soothe, or some other good from God. The youth leader called on a young man to lead the prayer, which he did. In it, he said to God that He had heard all of the request from the others in the group, but he prays for God’s will, and not ours.
To me now, this seems more in line with correct prayer is not to change God, but that God will change us.

December 14, 2022 at 2:53 pm EST in reply to: Introduce yourself – Question Your Reality Part 1 #306617TomParticipantMy name is Tom Hughes, I live in South Carolina in the United States. I am a student of Kabbalah because I want to understand why I am here? What does my life really mean? Is there more to life than this?
TomParticipantI am Tom from the US, and I know that we are here in this reality for more than just to exist and die. That the Creator is real and that we can get to have an actual relationship with the source. I have spent my life in search of that relationship. My goal in studying Kabbalah is to transform myself so that I can become that which the Creator intended for me to be.
I don’t know how to do this. I’ve searched through studies of religions, science, mysticism, and occult knowledges. Along this path, I have had many dead ends, confusion, and also many moments of a glimpse of the truth.
This has led me to here.
