ParticipantWhat exactly does Tzimtzum Aleph (First Restriction) change about the relationship between Malchut and the Upper Light after shame makes direct reception impossible?
This question probes the mechanics of the cosmic shift, how does this “law for all reality” create the empty void, and what new rules govern fulfillment from that point forward?
- January 11, 2026 at 3:22 pm EST #475587
Gianni – KabU InstructorModeratorShame doesn’t make direct reception impossible. Seemingly I could keep receiving through the shame. The restriction is the decision never to receive again unless it’s to bestow, which is why now in our world one never receives though we think we would like to and our whole life is chasing reception. We never get to the reception but only have near-encounters. And the near-encounters are our actual definition of pleasure. Light itself has never been experienced by anyone. There couldn’t be a more sweeping fallout from the Restriction than having all generations of humans living only to chase the mirage of the Upper Light. This we will do until we learn to exit our Will to Receive entirely. That is, to do the Restriction upon ourselves. That is, we need to match the Upper Law that we are under in any case.

DonnaParticipantHi Gianni, After the thought of creation and through phase 1, it appears that the creature starts developing through it’s own actions down to Malchut. Is it fair to say the creature starts making or is responsible for it’s final form/development?
Also, at what point during the phases does the creature make the split into still, vegetative, animate, and speaking? Does this happen during the phases? Do different proportions of light and bestowal create what is here in this world?
- September 20, 2025 at 8:22 pm EDT #454404
Gianni – KabU InstructorModeratorHi Donna,
Yes, it appears that way – but the creature develops by the Light through those stages. That’s why they are called 4 Phases of Direct Light: it’s actions of the Light. The Light is so in the desire, like a hand in a glove, that we have to clarify who it is that’s even there besides the Light. The Light creates the Shame in the creature too; and then the Desire is restricted, in response. Later, much later, there’s a space created in which there is room for the creature to develop in what can be called free choice.
While these phases do not relate to our world, they are the root for the Still, Vegetative, Animate, and Speaking, in our world. Keter is the root; Hochma is Still, Bina is Vegetative, Tifferet is Animate; Malchut is Speaking.
Of course, upper forces are the reason for all that’s in our world. “You have not a blade of grass without a force and an angel above that strikes it and tells it, ‘Grow!'”

Participantis there a giant diagram outlines the entire creation by it’s order? also in that diagram describes what is sefirah, partzuf, worlds, Soul levels, first/second restriction, screen, light, created being……and why and what happened at each step. I will be great to have that big picture, then dive into details of each step.

Gianni – KabU InstructorModeratorLater in the course you’ll see that.

VianneyParticipantIf the shame cancel the pleasure why is there a need for a restriction, isn’t the shame already the restriction in itself?
- February 23, 2025 at 3:48 pm EST #426929
Gianni – KabU InstructorModeratorYes but still – sequentially, after the shame cancels the pleasure, there needs to be a decision: “From now on, I don’t receive, unless I can be certain it’s to bestow to the Creator.”

Gianni – KabU InstructorModeratorWhich video are you talking about?
The Tzimzum in th world of Adam Kadmon is Tzimzum Alpeh (First Restriction)
The Tzimzum downin the NHY of AK is Tzimzum Bet (Second Rstriction)

VianneyParticipantThe first video in point 4. Restriction. At 5:54 as I understand he says tzimtzum aleph when speaking about the kli. From 5:38 he is speaking of the four phases and the creature, then the decision of the upper that is a law in the lawer, and the complete restriction of the creature, tzimtzum aleph.

Gianni – KabU InstructorModeratorMalchut of Eyn Sof, the initial Creation, develops in 4 phases, at the end of which is the Restriction. Much later, there is one more Restriction that extends this law further. We’ll talk about it in an upcoming video.

EdParticipantIn Isaiah 14 we read:
How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations!
13 For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:
14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.
15 Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit.
16 They that see thee shall narrowly look upon thee, and consider thee, saying, Is this the man that made the earth to tremble, that did shake kingdoms;
17 That made the world as a wilderness, and destroyed the cities thereof; that opened not the house of his prisoners?
Is this a picture of Malchut? Is this our essence? It seems when we say Malchut wanted to control the Creator, it became the being that Isaiah called Lucifer.

HazeParticipantMy understanding of Lucifer is that it represents Pride (and Satan represents Wrath). I believe those are just two desires we are working to correct here.
- November 13, 2024 at 11:38 am EST #399655
Gianni – KabU InstructorModeratorHi Haze,
Lucifer, I don’t have in the wisdom of Kabbalah. It’s a modern term that was used to translate to the Latin lux ferre from the Hebrew word helel (הֵילֵל) and then further interpretations were added by more non-Kabbalists.
The term Satan (שָּׂטָן, satan) is present in Job, the Zohar, and elsewhere in authentic Kabbalistic texts, where it means accuser. It’s just one of the forces in a person that pull him away from the correct Kabbalistic study.
- May 24, 2025 at 1:09 pm EDT #439898
LogynnParticipantWhen we see people in our world who seem to have no shame, but seem to rule and control everything, are these forces like “the accuser” or “angels” that are like Nature applying pressure to us? Or are they just depictions of part of ourselves? Is seeing someone else not having shame part of growing our ability to perceive spiritual shame?
- May 26, 2025 at 11:56 pm EDT #440164
Gianni – KabU InstructorModeratorYes, the whole world is a projection of my intentions. So if I want to correct them, I’ll have to correct myself.
Don’t look for spiritual concepts to clothe onto our world, which is the simple Will to Receive – growing, but only on a simple level.

HazeParticipantThank you Gianni. That was very helpful. I thought about my reply some more and realized that perhaps those aren’t desires after all … just emotions. Is there a difference between desires, emotions and forces?
- November 14, 2024 at 10:53 am EST #400511
Gianni – KabU InstructorModeratorActually no. It just depends which discernment we want to emphasize. All is desire. All is forces. And emotions are just what we’re registering presently.
- September 30, 2024 at 11:39 am EDT #390522
Gianni – KabU InstructorModeratorI can’t answer because the original text was written by Kabbalists and the text you provided is a translation in which words have been changed and entire words and concepts that don’t exist in the original have been added. But also, the original is very high and I wouldn’t get confused with it because it’s not directly in front of us, but, believe it or not, what is discussed in this course, is. It’s a paradox – I get that – that here it seems as if high-flying in some distant upper worlds, while in a text like that one it seems that we can pretty much understand what’s going on.

VerenaParticipantHi, I just realised I might have asked too many questions along that course, sorry for that, I feel just really intruiged by all of this, please feel free to just answer whichever seems to fit with the content of the course. Thank you.
