BradParticipantThe binding of Isaac, is this really Abrahams disciple, was he really going to sacrifice him or is it talking about desires? Left side, Â Is issac a person or a desire. Or both?
how do we know when someone is a desire or when someone is a real person.
i know we say that the torah is kabbalah and it speaks nothing about this world, but then, Rav Laitman also says many of these people in torah existed. Where do we draw the line on what is desire or physical people? You have an article on the binding of isaac ?
thank you

Chris – KabU InstructorModeratorHi Brad,
Always talking about desires and the interaction between the force of bestowal and the force of reception. The entire Torah is written to describe the process of correction. Even if it is alluding to historical events, this no application to the correction of the soul as we read it.
You can check out this article if you would like to read further.
Thanks!

mrc sParticipantDoes Kabbalah make me more crueler or the opposite?
- October 7, 2023 at 1:47 pm EDT #332362
Chris – KabU InstructorModeratorPeople who come to Kabbalah have a greater desire than anyone else, so great that it is above anything in this world and they crave something above it, outside it. That may mean they are cruel, but they may be sweet and kind–this has to do with a person’s character.

mrc sParticipantDoes studying Kabbalah make me more capable to do good or harder?
- October 7, 2023 at 1:45 pm EDT #332361
Chris – KabU InstructorModeratorOnce a person starts studying, they don’t really know what they’re studying. The definition of “good” begins to change, and once you realize what good actually is you realize how distant you are from it and ultimately how incapable you are doing any good whatsoever.

mrc sParticipantDoes kabbalah make me lose interest in corporeality or more desire for them than before?
- October 7, 2023 at 1:42 pm EDT #332360
Chris – KabU InstructorModeratorTypically yes, but along the path more desires will awaken in order to reveal greater desire which we will need to overcome.

mrc sParticipantDoes the language of the branches include states of mind or only corporeal names?
- October 7, 2023 at 1:41 pm EDT #332359
Chris – KabU InstructorModeratorThe language of branches describes upper forces working in upper worlds.
