If people were connected according to the spiritual law of love these issues would be nonexistent.

We would see ourselves and all living things as part of a single unity and design our societies accordingly, every single person considering the other first. Thus all the desires and needs are met.

If people were connected according to the spiritual law of love, we would first understand each other, consider others’ needs, and work together to solve problems. As a result, trust and unity would increase, and conflicts would decrease through love and cooperation.

I just experimented with this notion with my college students last week.  Fortunately, I have a small class, and we already shared a professional and communal bond of mutual respect and care.  We approached the problem of societal polarization, especially exacerbated by social media, head on.  Our discussion was honest, direct, and tackled the really hard issues–but at all times it remained caring, loving, and thoughtful.  At the end, we all learned from each other.  Our personal bonds of friendship and trust increased, and we all went forward approaching this societal problem from a position of love and a desire to help and educate others, to be bridge-builders.  It really does work.

We will seek to understand each other before our own need to be understood.

We will have respect and care for others place upon their spiritual journey.

We will have developed a greater sense of fulfillment from helping others than seeking fleeting, egoistic pleasure.

We will place the value of our interdependence and collective growth higher than our political, religious and social differences.
