  • Hi J,

If by “easy” path you mean for there to be an opportunity to bypass the process of development, then you’re right, there is no such thing. Either way we need to go through the entire process of development.

Furthermore, although we say that there are these two paths (suffering or light), in truth we don’t really advance on the path of suffering. It’s like a child that needs to go to school. Pressuring and punishing him is not the same as educating him. So after all of the pressures and punishments we put on him, he will still have to go to school and get his education. In other words, the path of suffering is only there to pressure us to return to the path of light.

    Hi Trino,

Not just any action. As we learn from the system of roots and branches, our world exists on the level of branches. All the changes essentially stem from the root. In order to make any change here, we need to do so on the root level.

It’s like watching TV. Let’s say I’m watching a TV show and want to change something in the show. I can start yelling at the show or even turn it off, or go to sleep or make a thousand other actions, but ultimately it will not change the show itself. In order to make any change, I would need to go to the source. In this case maybe to contact the director or something.

This is how our world works. That we’re on the level of branches, like that end result of a TV show that was already made. And in order to make any change here, we need to go to the roots.

We’ll learn more about this in the upcoming lessons, in the meantime, check out this blog post from Rav Laitman for more details: https://laitman.com/2009/09/the-law-of-roots-and-branches-the-most-imporant-law-in-kabbalah/

    Hi Namron,

Yes, you can say that about the carpenter.

Regarding equivalence of form on the level of our desires, if we had an example of a spiritual desire, we would be able to emulate and copy it in order to reach equivalence of form with it. The problem is that such a thing does not exist on the level of our world. The best that we can do here is to read the Kabbalistic texts which describe to us these spiritual desires in the language of roots and branches. By reading these texts and trying to understand and feel them within our desire, through those efforts we evoke the light that is in these texts. This light gradually corrects our desires and makes them similar to the spiritual desire that we read and aspire towards. And then in the corrected desire, we will reach equivalence of form with spirituality and begin to feel it in practice.

    Hi Craig,

Every spiritual root must reach the material branch.

As for skipping rungs, no we cannot skip any of the rungs. Each rung is a necessary step, a necessary part of the process of our development towards reaching the state of wholeness and perfection. If it was possible to skip something, then we would be incapable of reaching the state of wholeness. It’s like putting together a billion piece jigsaw puzzle. If even one piece is missing, the whole puzzle is incomplete.

If we cannot skip any part of our development, what can we do? We can accelerate the rate at which we go through all these states. So instead of taking years and lifetimes to go through all these degrees, we can condense all this work within a relatively short period of time.

    Hi Aaron,

There have been countless Kabbalists throughout the generations. At some point in history, even the entire Israeli nation attained spirituality. So there is no shortage of examples of people that have corrected themselves.

As for the difficulty of this work. If we try to correct ourselves, then it’s not just difficult, but it’s impossible. Just like a PC cannot just reprogram itself to run as a mac, we too are incapable of correcting our own ego. We need help to perform this change. This help comes to us from the force of the light. Our entire work boils down to extracting more and more of this light, especially during the Kabbalistic studies, and it does all the rest.

As for being an egoist, the real ego is something that we reveal only after we do some serious spiritual work on trying to reconnect the shattered soul. We do this work together with other points in the heart in a Kabbalistic group. But we have not yet started to do this type of work, we’re still in the fundamentals learning about the basics of this wisdom. As such, none of us have the real form of ego that needs to get corrected. All that we have right now is a simple desire to receive pleasure.

As for being scared about the state after crossing the barrier, our current situation is the lowest and worst possible state. There is literally nothing worse than our situation in which we are completely disconnected from the Creator. So whatever comes after the barrier will definitely be better than what we’re in now.

    Hi Jack,

We learn that “there is no coercion in spirituality”. Meaning that we cannot force anyone to do spiritual work. So no one will force you to join a ten if you’re not ready for it.

But if you do go through the KabU courses, you will be gradually taught these things, about the shattering in the system of Adam HaRishon and how our entire work is to repair that shattered connection. Meaning that eventually we’ll come to connect with the whole world. But we don’t go directly to working with the whole world.

It’s just like a bodybuilder that wants to lift 1000 pounds. The bodybuilder does not start lifting 1000 pounds right away, rather he starts with something smaller and builds his strength gradually until he can handle the 1000 pounds. So working in a ten is like starting with a small weight. When we master that, we can expand that connection to include more and more tens until we include the whole world in that connection.

Keep in mind that we’re still in the fundamentals of Kabbalah, so the work in the ten is not so important for us at this stage. At this stage, it’s more important for us to properly absorb the fundamentals. The most important thing you can do for your spiritual advancement now, is to set aside some time to regularly return to the Kabbalistic sources, weekly lessons, videos, books, etc. Such a habit of regularly returning to the source of the light will help you throughout your entire spiritual development.
