What you can bestow to friends is the importance of the spiritual goal, which is the only thing the Creator can’t do for them. He could do it, just like He gives you the Point in the Heart, but He won’t. Once you’re in the group it means you want a higher level of advancement where you depend not on the Creator but on His representatives, the group of students that He awakened. You have to help each other, and that’s the only thing in the world you can do for now that will be considered somehow close to true bestowal.
It’s never good to take a break from Kabbalah, but you could read a different kind of text. For example, if the head is not working, work with something more emotional, such as the article by Baal HaSulam, There is None Else Besides Him, or the book Attaining the Worlds Beyond by Michael Laitman. Besides, the Light actually works on us even better when we’re confused, then our ego isn’t as much standing in the way.
The truth is there are as many kinds of Lights as their are Kelim (vessels). But Hassidim and Hochma are the two major forms of Light. Hochma is the pleasure of the fulfilment itself, of reception in order to bestow; and Hassidim is the fulfilment of bestowal. Not receiving to bestow, just bestowing in order to bestow.
Yes, although you have no work with your qualities directly – the work is with the study and drawing the Upper Light that knows how to correct them – it’s true that you’ll find later that you’re filled with special traits that can be inverted and used for spiritual progress.

All this is included in the simple ego. It doesn’t matter if it’s the desire to receive like this or like that. Either I want to receive more preferable qualities, because I see that with different qualities others are succeeding more, and I simply make a rational observation about the comparison between my qualities and the qualities of others, and I conclude bitterly that it is realistic to presume that I will not receive the fulfilments I might have, were I to have more successful qualities. And of course everyone is this way, so if you will demonstrate that you can succeed more with your qualities than others can with theirs, then they will hate you, precisely to the extent that they are aware of your success. It’s not spiritual shame. But it’s true that all that we do in this world is to avoid ever arriving at a feeling of shame, that I am somehow less than another.

No, we are considered to be on the Animate level in our world. To reach the spiritual Still, Vegetative, Animate and Speaking degrees is already something special. The spiritual Still is where I correct my properties of Reception so that I’m at least not negatively affecting my environment by my attitude towards others. I still can’t Bestow, but I don’t cause harm.
When we climb the spiritual ladder we become more egoistic because egoism is the Desire to Receive that also has the intention to receive for oneself, and all of the broken desires are this way, and ascending the ladder means getting more and more of these broken desires to correct, which means to first Restrict their usage with the intention to receive, and afterwards, use them correctly, with the intention to bestow. By correcting all the desires we achieve complete Equivalence of Form with the Creator. By these uncorrected desires we’re exactly opposite to Him, by inverting them we become similar to Him.
