Hi, I am Stephen from the UK. I have only been studying for a few months but wanted to go deeper into the Zohar, and this seems the best way to get the beginning of a grounding in its mysteries.

does life have to have a meaning? What makes us think that there is anything other than birth, living, and death and decay? If we believe that, then we are faced with the question, what is the purpose of our brain? clearly it is more than keeping our physical body alive and meeting our physical needs. We have the ability to question and change things outside ourselves to make life better or worse. To react to, and relate to, people around us. Each one of us has a moral compass that gives us a pathway to follow. However everyone compass seems to be different. We have an area of the Brain that if stimulated results in a spiritual experience. But everyone responds differently to that stimulation. For some it can be a positive  experience for others for others it can be a negative and frightening experience. We do not use the majority of the brains ability.

So are we nothing more than the result of years of evolution?

We need to truly love our neighbour s ourselves. To do this we need to correct our egos and progress to union with God. To do this we need to be in the right environment with the right teacher and working in a group.

How can I trust that my desire is genuine? I feel a great need within to interact with the creator. When there seems to be no response I question the purity of my desire.

Hi I am Stephen, My nickname is  Cobbet ot the Shire.  It is not easy to question your reality. for 74 years I have been immersed in this world where everything seems as it is. However, I know that I can’t trust my own eyes because my brain makes decisions to ‘correct’ the way I see things. I may desire to see things the way they are but unless I use a corrective lens It is not possible.  Kabbalah serves as a corrective lens enabling us to progress in understanding. I am limited because I have no one to study with. however much I wish to cross the barrier to higher levels I cannot. However much I beg the Creator for help no help seems to come. I sometimes feel that I am a voice crying out in the wilderness.
