Hey mrc,
That’s just a more sophisticated ego, but “more” ego is generally something already spiritual where a person reveals more in order to correct. Whatever ego we have in this world is more or less the same ego as anyone else just some are driven more by it while others get by with less.

Hi, I am very new to this whole thing and I have noticed that there are many places and websites that claim Kabbalah to be different things. Mostly “jewish mysticism” which I now understand is not the case. I do wonder though with all of the misinformation out there how can I tell what websites/people to trust when it comes to this subject? I have gotten translated books of some original texts but even translations can have a sort of a bias and I just want to make sure I am studying authentic Kabbalah that relates as close to possible with the actual original texts. I have been mainly sticking to this website and the kabu videos on youtube but I was wondering if there are any other trustworthy sources or communities out there for this and what the best way to find them would be without running into the “wrong” interpretations.

Hey Andrew,
Thats correct, there are many misunderstandings and misinterpretation of the wisdom. That’s why we stress studying only from authentic sources which we have in our library here (kabbalahmedia.info) and just as important to study from a teacher coming from chain of Kabbalists practicing the method and interperting the sources correctly. The method was established as a path that leads a person towards correction of the ego. If that is not the goal of the study this would be considered inauthentic. As far as we know, this is the only organization providing the authentic method.

In Kabbalists texts like The Tree of Life and The Study of the Ten Sefirot, the upper one is described as lowering itself to the lower ones in order to raise them to a higher degree.

Hey mrc,
If your asking from the perspective of Kabbalah, doing “good” would still be an action with the intention to receive which distances us from the Creator and this is considered “bad”. This is how Kabbalah defines good and evil. “In order to bestow” is good. “In order to receive” is considered evil.

My questions are as follows:
1. Why is it that the greatest Kabbalists of the past were all Jewish Rabbis. This gives the impression that somehow the Kabbalah is connected to Judaism . I also noted that most of the current Rabbis are holding the perception that one can’t delve into the Kabbalah before knowing the TORAH and for learning Kabbalah a person has to be ‘pure’ which is attained by strictly observing all the ‘Mitzvot’ in the Torah.
2. By my understanding, the Kabbalah is written in Aramaic, but if the Hebrew language is the basis of the creation, why it is not written in Hebrew ?
I hope that my questions do not sound stupid , I just would like to know how to respond to people close to me when they bring up the ‘reasoning’ in my first question ( first learn Torah then you can slowly start with Kabbalah).

Hi Varda,
Well Judaism did stem from the misuse or misunderstanding of Kabbalah so there’s this “backward” connection, but that’s it. The study of the wisdom had nothing to do with whether you are religiously a Jew or not, it just so happens that many of the books were written in Hebrew and these texts were typically available to those who understood the language or were around those books by chance even. So here when you mention words like “Torah” and “Mitzvot” you’ll need to redefine them according to the wisdom of Kabbalah and not the Jewish religion which would refer to the light that corrects us and the inner actions that draw that light.
The books of Zohar was written in Aramaic. Aramaic and Hebrew are connected and Aramaic is considered the “back side” of the language. Our teacher explains that Hebrew is the language of “lights” whereas Aramaic is the language of the vessels. I found a post where Rav Laitman writes exactly of this so maybe you’ll like to delve into it more if you’re interested.
