So how do we develop a will to bestow?

      • #408199

        Melanie,
        We need to want it.
That’s what raises us above the degree called “animate” (the level of the animal kingdom), where we are governed by all of the same systems as animals, food, reproduction, shelter, etc.
We are a more advanced animal, we developed social desires, so if we see someone else with a new car, we also want one or if we see someone with a new hairstyle, we want it.  So we use this feature, we surround ourselves with those who are advancing towards bestowal and we want what they are achieving.
This process grows our desire for something that is not instinctual, like all of our animal desires.  This new desire is something we discover.  And through engagement in this we attracts lights upon our soul that develop us.  It is a very natural process, just like a teenager does not have to do anything to go into puberty.  Similarly, when our desire ripens, we naturally go to the next level.  It’s part of the natural process, the difference is that this next step happens from our desire growing from our efforts instead of our desire growing simply biologically.

I heard Dr. Laitman relate Einstein’s theory of Relative affects our reality, can you connect Kabbalah’s teachings to this?

Can you give examples of the lower world on how to use the will to bestow?

Is feeling deep appreciation for nature a form of the will to bestow? For example, I am enjoying the sunset and feel gratitude for that gift- is that a way to access the will to bestow?

      Thanks

        Ser,

The will to bestow is something that is in the domain of the upper worlds. In fact in this world, it is by nature impossible to bestow. This entire world is made of a matter that is a desire to receive from the smallest particle to the largest.

We can accustom ourselves to it through exercises and behaviors like you are describing, but like puberty which changes a persons thoughts and feelings, spirituality is a transition a person goes through.
The difference is puberty is automatic and bilogical. The entrance to spirituality requires our efforts and participation.

So, there are some exercises (i guess we get to that in a later stage of this course?) to start developing the 6th sense, even though it is impossible for us in this reality to bestow.

At this point I feel that developing a 6th sense would be like becoming a Super Hero, which comes from the will to receive (egoism).

So many of my interest have change.  Will I be able to connect with like minded people through this study.  This is very important to me.

        Ken,

Yes. After these fundamental self study courses you’ll have the opportunity to join live classes and also join a group of fellow students and an instructor where you will study and implement the wisdom together.

I would love to hear more about Reshimo. I understand the idea, but when I reflect on my experiences I want to ensure I am making the proper connection.

        Katrina,

Whereas according to Darwin’s theory creatures from the bottom compete and or cooperate and keep progressing forward, in the wisdom of kabbalah, we study how the Light cascaded down from the highest state to the lowest. We are now preparing to ascend back up that ladder. Each of the steps we traverse on our way back up are those very same steps the light passed on its descent. Each of these are called reshimot (records or remembrances).

So from what I’m understanding is we need to correct egoism in order to desire to receive. there is a process an order we must get to, to be able to reach altruistic. Is this Wright?
