The Light is indeed abstract – meaning we exist in an ocean of pleasure, however we feel it only if (1) we have a vessel in which to feel it, as you cannot enjoy wine if you have no mouth, no stomach, no brain, etc. We are missing the receivers to receive this broadcast of pleasure. So, we have to build the correct receiver. From birth we have a receiver that is both too small – the way a baby only wants mommy’s milk and so cannot enjoy any of the things you call pleasure – and our receiver is also in an incorrect, prohibited format. Meaning there is an Upper Law against the form we want to receive in, by our nature. That’s why whenever we’re about to receive, the pleasure evaporates.
About the pace, you don’t need to rush. This is an ongoing, self-paced course where the students in this cohort have started at different times and should they continue, will enter different groups as they complete the required courses.
The drama between the Light and Kli is all there is in Creation. Except we don’t feel it yet because the Kli is now broken and out of this brokenness we depict reality. The Light wants to fill the Kli but for that the parts have to connect. We are those parts. We don’t feel any Shame in our state because we don’t feel there is an Upper Force permeating everything and bestowing to us.
Adam HaRishon includes everybody, but he shatters. Now, we are his shattered parts. The whole perception of this world – and this is why we call our world imaginary – is an imagination of a reality in which the parts of Adam HaRishon are separated. We need to try to break out of this imagination by moving toward the true reality, which is that we stand connected, filled with the Upper Light. But we don’t feel that yet, and that’s why we need the wisdom of Kabbalah.
Sorry I missed this, Tom. It is hard to say because we don’t do anything like that in our world. A precise way to say it is that clothing means to take the form of. For example, the desire to receive will always be a desire to receive that can do nothing but receive. However, it can take the form of bestowal. Let’s say, like a child, that, with the qualities he has, tries to take on the qualities of his father. It is one object, dressing into the qualities of another, though it remains with it’s own qualities, it uses them in another form, in a form of bestowal.
They attained it. Like if you go walking through a landscape. But attainment is something even more than that experience, so real that compared to that, our world is revealed to be the way people imagine spirituality to be. They think spirituality is something misty, mystical, vague. Later, they will see that that is what our life is – a dream, imagination.
(1) 1995 – I have to say, first, that for a Kabbalist there is a significance to a certain date that may not be readily discernable to us. If we are to progress by way of “the path of suffering” – meaning without hastening the states so that we move quickly and pleasantly through them – then everything is set in stone. On such and such date it is written that there will be a third, nuclear world war. After that will be a fourth world war. We do see too that in 1995 our organization formed – meaning that is when students started coming to my teacher. Also, you can research what breakthroughs happened then with the internet. It was actually a breakthrough time, and it is because of this that you can study the authentic wisdom of Kabbalah, which before you could only do if you happened to be in a town where there was a Kabbalist and he was willing to accept you as a student. You can’t learn this from books. You need a teacher and a group to correctly tune to what is written, even if you have the correct books.
(2) Abraham – We are so much in that same state that you would be more correct to think that it never happened in the past and that it is talking about us. We are the Babylonians. Nothing has changed. We simply spread around the world to get away from each other. And now the world is like one tiny village, where all are interdependent – but don’t want to be! Now we have to correct the egos that would not let us connect those thousands of years ago. There’s nowhere to run this time. Either we connect, or we’ll nuke each other, only a handful of people will survive, and they will include in themselves all the desire and suffering of all of humanity and have to do the same correction through connecting together that we could do now in a much easier way.
(3) Personal attainment – Kabbalists don’t like to talk about themselves. They don’t speak from the point of personal attainment unless it’s necessary. And here, we have the writings of Baal HaSulam and Rabash, who attained what they write about, and they say that “anyone can be as Moses”. So – even “as Moses”! Therefore, that is sufficient, and we don’t need any additional “proof”. Because it would not be proof anyway. If you think about it for a while you will know what I mean. Also, we have a very useful rule that no one speaks of their attainments, if they do have them. This is critically important both for the person and for people around him.
(4) Getting worse after Kabbalistic studies – Yes, but later you will see that this is just a phase and that you will get better. Everything will take on the right balance and you’ll be at peace with the whole world.
