While we are not even on the first spiritual degree, the correct connection between the men and women, the correction for which stems from the Shattering between Adam and Eve, is among the highest spiritual degrees. It’s probably worthwhile to also mention that it’s less the women who have a problem here, but the men, who therefore need to face only each other, and always be before male teachers. It’s specifically men who, in any other form, know how to escape their correction and not advance whatsoever toward spiritual things. However, in old times, when men were not in such a lowly animal state, but on lofty spiritual degrees, there was a generation, for example, when the highest Kabbalist was a woman – so, naturally, everyone studied from her, including the men. Today we don’t have such men and we don’t have such women. Therefore, what you heard are the laws, in the meantime, for our kindergarten. Yes, it appears that way – but the creature develops by the Light through those stages. That’s why they are called 4 Phases of Direct Light: it’s actions of the Light. The Light is so in the desire, like a hand in a glove, that we have to clarify who it is that’s even there besides the Light. The Light creates the Shame in the creature too; and then the Desire is restricted, in response. Later, much later, there’s a space created in which there is room for the creature to develop in what can be called free choice.
While these phases do not relate to our world, they are the root for the Still, Vegetative, Animate, and Speaking, in our world. Keter is the root; Hochma is Still, Bina is Vegetative, Tifferet is Animate; Malchut is Speaking.
Of course, upper forces are the reason for all that’s in our world. “You have not a blade of grass without a force and an angel above that strikes it and tells it, ‘Grow!'”
No, to feel hell we have to already be in spirituality. Against the revelation of the Creator, we can feel how bad it is to be in the Will to receive. Whereas we are in the lowest possible state and enjoy it.
If we are reading with a DEFICIENCY to reach specific states of connection between us. We have to play the states we want to be in, so that we and others will have a deficiency for them.
‘Behind’ means that through this externality you discover deeper layers. But it’s through this layer. It’s the same with the books. Through them, they take you out of your thoughts and desires into those of the author, who is in contact with the Creator. He takes you by the hand to the Upper World.
