It means rather than trying to take everything for myself and my benefit, to begin and restrict my intake of pleasures for pleasures sake, and to begin to put myself in an environment where the Ego’s desires are a lot more visible and known, rather than just letting myself get taken for a “blind ride” by my ego.
August 11, 2022 at 3:10 pm EDT in reply to: Preparation Question: Congratulations on progressing through the intermediary stages of your Kabbalah learning by staring this new course! Since the wisdom of Kabbalah deals with developing our precious eternal part—the soul—it is important to take a moment to note your expectations from this stage of your journey, and later check back and see what aligned with or differed from your expectations, and how you might’ve changed in the process: What do you hope to get out of this course you’re now starting? #296784Kenneth AlexanderParticipantI hope that the Light will influence me to start practicing seeing every other person as an extension of myself. Rather than just seeing other people, I want to start thinking about how they might perceive and experience this world we share. I want to wonder how we may both look at the same things, places and events and what we might see differently about them. Every human has their own unique perspective of the world, and while I may only have my own vessel to experience it, I believe I can further my understanding by learning to emphasize with others.
August 6, 2022 at 9:28 pm EDT in reply to: What was my best experience from the previous course? What do I expect from this course? #296260Kenneth AlexanderParticipantI would have to say my favorite moment is (what I think) the realization that there isn’t any sort of “Anti-Creator” and that all “Evil” that appears in this world is the result of uncorrected egos. I grew up in a Christian home and always questioned the pragmatism of things like Hell and Satan. It seemed to me that human choice was more of a key factor, so discovering how Kabbalah reinforces that in a way really resonated in me.
I expect that this course will be a bit thicker than the previous ones, in terms of study and contemplation. I’m really going to need to discipline myself to making time for daily study, especially on my days off.
August 4, 2022 at 2:34 pm EDT in reply to: Preparation Question: If everyone must reach the ultimate goal, what is my role in the process? #296053Kenneth AlexanderParticipantTo put myself in the environment where I can best nurture my own and other’s points in the heart.
July 25, 2022 at 10:17 am EDT in reply to: Preparation Question: What does it mean to view reality from the perspective of the Creator? #295135Kenneth AlexanderParticipantThe view of a master gardener as he sets out to plant a new garden. He sows the seeds, knowing what they are, knowing that even the same types of seeds will produce different variations of that type of plant. He plants them in specific areas, with innate knowledge of how the environment will nurture them, from the soil they are in to the amount of sun and rain they will be under. He calculates how every rock they are next to and gust of wind they will endure will serve to shape their ultimate outcome. From the very outset of he already has the shape of the finality in mind.
July 19, 2022 at 12:03 pm EDT in reply to: Preparation Question: The importance of clearly defining the goal in the study of Kabbalah is the beginning of the path. Once the goal is defined, you will continue to refine it to keep yourself perfectly aimed at the target. How would you currently define the goal for which you are studying? #294713Kenneth AlexanderParticipantTo improve my understanding of the Creator, and by that improve my own capabilities that I might be better equipped to improve the society I am a part of.
