I am pleased to hear that it is ok to also want to attain spirituality for my own benefit as well as because I want to see the world in a corrected state.

The psychological and philosophical answers are many. In Kabbalistic ans spiritual terms it would be a shift from viewing the world with ALL it’s resourses (nature, creatures, other humans and even the moon and mars) is there for the taking and for the bennefit of one self, to understanding that it is ONE giant system that everything and everyone is part of. And by implication of this, one starts to take/use only what’s needed and try to make sure that everyone around oneself has what THEY need. And also try to understand how ones actions might hurt somewhere else in the world, be it the country next door or anywhere else…
If we could see eachother as brothers and sisters and the animals as our cousins, if we could put all our current systems and institusions to work for the understanding of why and how we are here, as well as to work towards a state where we can all have what is necesery in life in order to engage in our own individual development (both personal and spiritual), and still be able to make free choices, I think I would find meaning and pleasure in life… To advance personally (the inner level that is) in order to work for THE Humanbeing.
