I always get lots out of reading the recommended articles for each course week, I can go back and read the same article again and take something different from it each time.
One thing is when reading ‘Kabbalah for the student’ I feel like because I have no knowledge of the Torah or the Mitzvot , that I may be missing something. Is it possible to reach these higher reality’s’ without knowledge of the Torah ?

ShaunParticipantHi, Ive been reading “Kabbalah for the student” and the parts that my intellect can grasp and understand are fascinating and profound. My only concern is that being non Jewish, I lack any knowledge of the Torah or the Mitzvot and have no real understanding of them. Will this hold me back in the studies? Would it be of benefit to study and learn about the Torah and Mitzvot or is it possible to grasp a true understanding of the wisdom without doing so?
thanks

Once the goal is defined, you will continue to refine it to keep yourself perfectly aimed at the target. How would you currently define the goal for which you are studying? #285675ShaunParticipantMy goal is to acknowledge my ego and rise above it , to start to change my attitude to become more giving and less selfish. Through these intentions i hope to gain a true knowledge of the creator and to be able to bestow contentment to Him.

I just have a query. It is said “The Creator created the evil inclination and for it the Torah as a spice”
Does this mean the Creator gave man an ego, but by following the Torah he can overcome this and be a better person in this world? I am not really sure what the Torah is. I have an idea that it is a holy book used in Judaism? apologies if this is wrong. Is it meaning something else in the wisdom of Kabbalah?
My understanding is that its the correcting light and not a book ?
Thanks
