In corporeal terms, this shift essentially means living each day in the service of the needs of others before your own.
In Kabbalistic terms, it is the complete and total nullification of egoistic desires, aspiring only to desires that aim to bestow upon the Creator or his creation (also the Creator). This is a higher level than just the actions that are taken in the corporeal definition mentioned above, as the inner desires inside of a person must be directed to completely reject any and all sensations for pleasure to the extent that they cannot be enjoyed outside of motivation of self fulfillment – which below the Machsom is virtually all of our desires.
Only after help from above can we actually begin to feel and perceive reality as a force of bestowal. Until then we must maintain a constant aspiration to be brought into this state and a Faith in the Creator that all of the events in our lives are meant for the purpose of bringing us into this state.
February 23, 2024 at 1:47 pm EST in reply to: Preparation Question: Congratulations on progressing through the intermediary stages of your Kabbalah learning by staring this new course! Since the wisdom of Kabbalah deals with developing our precious eternal part—the soul—it is important to take a moment to note your expectations from this stage of your journey, and later check back and see what aligned with or differed from your expectations, and how you might’ve changed in the process: What do you hope to get out of this course you’re now starting? #362377Nick MartinezParticipantUltimately it seems like in order to move forward at this point, we need a group to start working with practically. Until then, it appears as if the point of the work is solely about growing the desire and maintaining an aspiration towards the Creator
February 20, 2024 at 6:02 pm EST in reply to: What was my best experience from the previous course? What do I expect from this course? #362112Nick MartinezParticipantMy best experience from the previous course had to be a few moments of clarity that connected the material to my current experience, which solidified the goal and it’s merits. It’s tricky though because as soon as the merits of the goal become apparent, it’s almost as if the goal itself becomes further away – because it’s clear it is worth doing for it’s own benefit which negates the efforts of moving forward selflessly. Interestingly enough, this realization makes spiritual descents far more valuable, because you’re given an opportunity to truly exercise Faith – and understand the loving intention behind seemingly challenging times.
As far as expectations go in this course, I’m hoping to be soon connected to a group that is interested in Kabbalah specifically. I’m currently connected to a group that, in a way, approximates the wisdom of Kabbalah. However the group tends to be made up of much coarser desires even though they are all generally pointed at achieving a sensation of the Creator through altruistic intentions.
Nick MartinezParticipantWhat is truly inspiring about this course is the fact that the instructors here take the time to answer a multitude of personal questions regarding the work. Kabbalah for the longest time in my experience has been difficult to integrate because there are many gray areas and misunderstandings when beginning the practical application of the work. It can be easy to become confused when all there is to rely on is the text.
While I’ve learned a lot about myself in this process, the most useful thing has been discovering a new layer of introspection when it comes to prayer. For so long I have always believed that prayer had been mostly useless because of how many unanswered prayers have come and gone throughout my life. But through this course, I’ve fully internalized the notion that prayer is only practical when it involves a request for strength to change ones perception in order to understand the constantly benevolent actions of the Creator. This take on prayer has completely revolutionized my relationship with reality, in that ALL events are not only inherently benevolent, but done for Creation with the highest possible level of bestowal that can exist. Moving forward with this axiom, it follows that the problem is not with the Creator, but is with me! Going even further, this problem was placed in me BY the Creator Himself, specifically so I could come to the realization that going to Him for strength to change and understand that He is good is the only way forward.
I hope for everyone in this class that they are given the profound change of perception I feel that has been given to me.
February 13, 2024 at 3:00 pm EST in reply to: Preparation Question: If everyone must reach the ultimate goal, what is my role in the process? #361201Nick MartinezParticipantUltimately all that is necessary for the individual is to correct ones inner desires from egoistic to altruistic. The student need not be concerned with the daunting goal of advancing the world at large because this world is actually all inside of him. Correction of oneself results in the correction of the world, because these entities are one and the same soul.
February 5, 2024 at 7:49 pm EST in reply to: Preparation Question: What does it mean to view reality from the perspective of the Creator? #360118Nick MartinezParticipantTo view reality from the perspective of the Creator means to attain a clear and definite perception of the Creators goodness in His totality.
This means that every and all events in reality are always good and exist only with the intention to bestow unlimited goodness to His creations, despite our current inability to perceive reality this way.
