10 Step Kabbalah Fat Loss and Muscle Gain – Part 2 | Kabbalah Explained Simply

In the first Kabbalah Explained Simply session on this topic (here – https://youtu.be/_A8xdcIYTBY), we showed parallels between the physical process of transformation involved with fat loss and muscle gain, and the spiritual process of transformation where we build our soul.

So far, we have covered the leading principle behind these two processes—enjoyment. That is, our transformation is optimal when we enjoy the process of transformation.

We have also covered the first six steps of this 10-step plan:

1) AVOID FAD DIETS & WORKOUT PLANS WITH SHORT-TERM PROMISES

In the fitness world, we need to be careful to avoid fad diets and workout plans that give promises of major results in a short time period. Likewise, with spirituality—and specifically, Kabbalah—there are several teachings that use the name “Kabbalah,” but which have nothing to do with the spiritual process of transformation that authentic Kabbalah teaches. How can we differentiate the “fads” from the authentic? That’s what we discussed in Part 1…

2) EAT SPIRITUALLY HEALTHY FOOD

A physical fat loss and muscle gain plan requires a suitable diet and understanding what foods to eat and avoid. Likewise, a spiritual process of transformation requires regular spiritual nourishment and understanding what spiritual sources to use. In the wisdom of Kabbalah, the spiritual root of food is called “surrounding light,” a special force that we attract when we approach the study with the intention to undergo a spiritual transformation. The purpose of all Kabbalah study is to draw this spiritual nourishment, which elevates us from this world to the attainment of the spiritual world, the soul.

3) PORTION YOUR FOOD PROPERLY

A major aspect of fat loss and muscle gain is not just knowing what foods to eat and avoid, but also knowing how to portion food properly. Likewise, the process of spiritual transformation involves portioning our spiritual lives with our corporeal lives in a way where we live life to its fullest. We don’t shy away from any aspect of life, but live, work, build the family, take vacations—and in addition, we study spiritual material and attain our soul. Spiritual advancement brings us an understanding of how to portion everything in our life in the most balanced way possible, because it fulfills the excessive desire that is surfacing today. Moreover, the myriad problems in society are due to the imbalance of this excessive desire.

4) AVOID SPIRITUALLY UNHEALTHY FOOD

In maintaining fat loss and muscle gain, there are certain foods we need to avoid altogether, or at least to keep them away from our regular diet. Likewise, with spirituality, the “spiritually unhealthy food” that we need to avoid is the intention to enjoy ourselves at the expense of others. The intention to enjoy at the expense of others detaches us from spirituality, from each other, and is the cause of all problems in the world.

5) FEEL HUNGRY ALL THE TIME

We don’t actually need to feel hungry all the time when we are in a fat loss and muscle gain process (and it’s not desirable to do so). However, in the spiritual process of transformation, “spiritual hunger” is a constant longing for the attainment of the spiritual qualities of love, bestowal, and connection. When we learn how to have this constant “spiritual hunger,” then we become like children, who have a great amount of energy to strive, seek, inquire, and be active in our spiritual search.

6) ADD WEIGHT RESISTANCE TO YOUR TRAININGS

In physical fitness, adding weight resistance to our trainings increases muscle strength by making our muscles work against a weight or force. Weight resistance in spiritual progress is all the rejections we feel from the single spiritual force of love, bestowal, and connection, which we aim to attain.
We increase weight resistance, and likewise “build our spiritual muscles,” i.e., rise in spiritual attainment, by trying to attain the force of love, bestowal, and connection more and more, i.e., by raising the importance of spirituality, love, bestowal, and connection above corporeality, egoism, division, and hatred.
